I’m so angry about the state of the country, I can’t even articulate my rage. Everyone I know is in pretty much the same boat. I’m not sure what I can do, logistically, as an American living so far from the epicenter of all this. As a transgender person, I’m not sure what I can do safely.

Listings for these are kind of confusing. You’ll know it’s the right thing if it has a separate power brick and a USB connection to the computer. You could also try using other USB ports on your computer if you have any. Ports on the back of a computer usually have more juice than the front ones.

Short answer: yes.
USB has wires for data and wires for power. Ports are only supposed to provide like half an amp of power normally. A powered USB hub keeps the data lines connected to the computer, but provides separate power to the ports so you can run more power-hungry stuff.

Myself, holding a clay Ferengi sculpture that would later become silicone prosthetics. I am dressed in a partially finished tailcoat, also of my own design.

My full Ferengi outfit. The prosthetics, coat, vest, and jumpsuit were all made by me. I modified the glasses myself to have a chain, so I would be able to see in the costume. The only purchase piece is the shoes.

Two other Star Trek costumes I’ve made, Drs T’Ana and Migleemo from Lower Decks. These were intended to mimic the large-head cartoon style of the show.

Yeah I think those other tools in that previous example are there to handle exactly that issue. There’s probably a quick way to do it involving piping one ffmpeg command (for playback) into a second ffmpeg command (for encoding and streaming) but IDK off the top of my head.

Ah, yeah it’d have to be in a codec that has hardware acceleration or has a low enough bitrate for the ffmpeg load on a raspi. Looks like it would be pretty straightforward to containerize this and run it on a more powerful machine. You’d think a simple app would exist! Hope you find a solution!
