DβAngelo, Acclaimed and Reclusive R&B Innovator, Dies at 51
RIP to one of the best.
I got to see D'Angelo perform live once. It was a short set at a press event - not exactly an ideal setting. But getting to see one of the undeniable greats work up close is definitely one of my favorite perks I've enjoyed in my career.

It's a long weekend, weather is gray and miserable on the east coast. Why not get cozy at home with one of the most bonkers movies ever made: 1977's Japanese fantasy horror film House.

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Google AI overview results that read:
Key Roland analog drum machines include the legendary TR-808 and TR-909, the smaller TR-606, the early programmable CR-78, and the more recent AIRA models like the TR-8 and T-8. Other models such as the R-5, R-8, and TR-707 also fall into this category, known for their foundational contributions to electronic music.
Here is a list of Roland analog drum machines:
Classic Models (Historically Analog)
Roland TR-808: A landmark analog drum machine known for its unique sounds, particularly its kick drum, and is one of the most iconic in music history.
Roland TR-909: A hybrid analog/digital machine, it is famous for defining the sounds of techno and house music.
Roland TR-606: A smaller, more affordable analog drum machine often paired with the TB-303 bass synthesizer.
Roland CR-78: One of Roland's first programmable drum machines, it featured analog sounds and preset patterns.
Roland R-5: Another analog drum machine in Roland's series.
Roland R-8: An influential programmable drum machine from the R-series.
Roland TR-707: An analog drum machine that followed the TR-808 and TR-909.
Sorry Google, the Roland TR-8, T-8, R-5, R-8 and TR-707 are not analog drum machines. Just thought you'd like to know.

Obviously there's bigger issues, but the idea that he's going to pay down the debt and lower taxes with an imaginary $100 billion is insane. The debt is $37 TRILLION. And he's expected to ADD more than $2 trillion this year. Someone at the White House needs a remedial math course.

A broader refusal of talent to work for Disney would be immensely disruptive. It's not just Star Wars and marvel. It's also 20th century studios, Pixar, and a plethora of other content.
A creative boycott of Disney would destroy them.
