City fan here. Not sure I personally subscribe to the conspiracy, but I can see how from an MLS brand standpoint they’d want their newest Big Name Signing to 1) win 2) score and 3) not draw against one of the worst teams in the league. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m just mad at the inconsistent officiating.

Timing is weird, but a friend posited management might be worried about contract negotiations. Given his up and down tenure, and more misses than hits, players might’ve used that as leverage. Who knows! I’m at least surprised they didn’t let him see out the remainder of the season.

At least, not the in the way you expect a CAM DP to. Some of that is down to Olof playing him deeper - he’s looked better under Critch - but DPs have to produce. He’s been durable which is great, but yeah.

The difference (for me) with Klauss is that Klauss is a much more well-rounded player. His finishing has been less than clinical and that’s his issue (big one for a striker, obvs) but he at least is defensively sound and links well. Aside from his immediate arrival, Hartel hasn’t really delivered.

Lutz was too inconsistent and reactionary after the 2023 season when it came to the really important pieces. It’s a shame it came to this - and also the timing is weird, why not wait until the end of the season? - but missing on DPs and overlooking needed depth pieces will ensure a short career.

Completely agree. In a league built around DPs, they have to be difference makers. For Hartel, he needs to be getting more points when too often he drifts in and out of matches, slows play, and is too aloof.

Sure, Vancouver won alot of stat categories. But they also barely out produced in terms of non-penalty xG despite heavily winning field tilt. City was more efficient and was fully deserving of a point in this one.
