My only fear is that when I finally find out what all this go-go dancing madness is actually *about*, I'm going to be disappointed.

I'm watching BLUE DEMON VS INFERNAL BRAINS without subtitles and frankly I am having a wonderful time.

Plus with Criterion, Shout Factory, Kino Lorber...they tend to have commentary tracks and extras that are so cool. Nothing like owning movies on blu ray. Plus it's such a privilege to have all these glorious films in your personal collection. I've currently got on Criterion's release of "Walker"

Because if you care about securely owning a movie that you love--as opposed to "owning" it only until a license agreement over which you have no control expires without warning--you need a DVD or Blu-ray. The hardware may be yesterday; the concern is very much of this moment.

Then I discovered it has one of my personal grail movies, a widescreen print of The Dragon Lives Again. I am so happy! πŸ₯Ή

Got my @severinfilms.bsky.social package today, and made the discovery that, while I thought I ordered the documentary Enter the Clones of Bruce, I instead somehow ordered the Game of Clones box set, and this is the greatest mistake I ever made. This is the best Christmas ever. πŸ€ͺ

"Quentin Tarantino is a good filmmaker" and "Quentin Tarantino is a giant prick who sinks his reputation via his inability to shut the fuck up" are not mutually exclusive statements.

I Tracked Down the Film that Traumatized Me as a Kid, and Found a Forgotten Gem - Reactor Weird, ambitious art β€” the kind that sticks with you for decades β€” is always worth searching for.

Lovely essay on @reactorsff.bsky.social by Asa West about two encounters with Vincent Ward's THE NAVIGATOR separated by decades, how memories play games with us and why that thing you kinda remember is worth hunting out.

Huh. They finally made a TRON movie I liked, but everybody else hates.

This likely surprises no one who's known me for long.

One of the greatest American character actors, Agnes Moorehead, was born 125 years ago today. Nominated for four Oscars, she should've won for The Magnificent Ambersons. She did many films, a brilliant Twilight Zone episode, and several plays . Her most iconic turn came as Endora in Bewitched.

The movie theater industry refusing to let Netflix show their first films to disqualify them for academy awards is the entertainment industry equivalent of Obama roasting Trump for thinking he could be president.

Apropos of nothing except Five Nights At Freddy's 2, I will never tire of absolutely dogshit horror films going out of their way to explicitly reference the classics so you immediately get that a jolt of "Christ, yeah, I could be rewatching Nightmare On Elm Street or Scream instead of this garbage."

Dan Robinson (@bookmandan.bsky.social) Retired. Interested in just about everything. Avid reader.

Buy a book.

Any book, it doesn't matter which. The one you've been looking forward to, the one with the title that made you laugh, the weighty award-winner you've been meaning to get to. Whatever.

Treat yourself. Step away from it all. In this time of gross ignorance & madness, read something.
