2) their reckons are based on zero evidence

3) messing about with frontline local services is dangerous in many ways

4) their whole project is a facsimile of what trump and musk tried to do- demolish local services entirely and create libertarian hellscape.

I refuse to link to the scumbag, but yesterday Farage posted a video in which he claimed that

"One million people living in this country don't speak any English at all"

The actual figure is 160,000.

So that's a lie. He lied.

I won't hold my breath for him to correct himself.

I notice now that on air reporters are conspicuously reading out White House words verbatim from iPads, presumably in order to side step any attempt at legal action from Trump. Late, but better. They seem also more ready to factually challenge what they are reading out.

The parallel story to the cold-blooded murder of Alex Pretti should have been the gleeful misdirection immediately deployed by the White House.

Instead the BBC and other outlets treated the bilge emanating from there as though it had credibility. Doing their work for them.

That would be tragic and dangerous, given the public duty they hold.

Alex Pretti was evidently not holding a gun in any of the available videos. Why then did the BBC and other outlets insist on reporting White House lies as though they were factual? Fear? Mediocrity? No sense of their own place in the process of establishing truth?

This is just poor journalism then. Do they employ trained people any more?

The duty of would-be leaders is to convince and change minds, not to chase down every voter on their most niche views. As politicians we’re meant to be building cohesion within our communities through a process of constant improvement, not exploiting and worsening small gripes for electoral gain.

The art of politics is not to do what people think. If it was, there literally wouldn’t be any politics. The art of politics is to convert public opinion in the direction of your policies. Not so subordinate your policies to opinion.

Although of course it is perfectly possible to be an “elderly white man” who is not a bigot. I know many.

Legal status doesn’t matter: if you exceed ICE’s melanin threshold, you get snatched. It is ethnic cleansing. There is no other word for it.

The news has shown you video of these often violent detentions. What you don’t see is what happens to these individuals after.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Judge Biery ordered ICE to release Liam. I’ve reached out to Liam’s mom and lawyers to let them know I will continue to do everything I can to make sure he is safe.
