*Bug Fables

Sheesh, is it really that hard for Bluesky to add a simple edit feature.

I finished playing through Escape from Ever After, including most of the optional content.

Overall, it's a great game that could even rival Big Fables, but if there's one gripe I have about it, it's that it sticks a bit too closely to the battle system in the first two Paper Mario games.

That's the internet for you. There's always going to be some people out there with a cultish need to gatekeep other people's enjoyment.

I just finished Chapter 3 as well, and yeah, the boss roster seems solid so far.

I played through it once and have no desire to ever do so again. I'll pick Platinum over it any day of the week.

Yeah, that unpredictability they have is nice.

It can certainly be a double-edged sword in some cases, but I'll take it over them doing the same safe and bland stuff time and time again, like the rest of the industry often does.

Yep. It always kind of baffled me how so many people tried to blame one specific person for the direction a series took, a series that was worked on by hundreds of other people, mind you.

First it was Miyamoto, then it was Tanabe, and in both cases the hate was unjustified.

Arlo criticizes Kensuke Tanabe here, but he makes a crucial point at around 14 minutes in: vilifying a video game producer just because of creative differences on a video game franchise you like is immature, and toxic to boot. VG producers have done far more harmful things worthy of hate than this.

Brothership's my second favorite Mario & Luigi game, and Dream Team follows closely behind it. So yeah, given that both are in my top half of the series, I would agree that they're underrated.

Regardless, it sometimes feels like I'm practically the only one who thinks Brothership is worthy of standing alongside other great and beloved Mario RPGs, including Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story.

Maybe saying "everyone else hates" this is an exaggeration, since I know there are a decent number of people out there who did really enjoy it, but I think it is fair to say this game was overall somewhat divisive.

For example, Mario Party Jamboree being given a niche side mode without any upgrades to the base game is certainly baffling. However, that doesn't mean Switch 2 editions are bad in concept. They just need to done right.

This might be a hot take, but I'm honestly not opposed to Switch 2 editions. They more or less function like built-in DLC, and I think having the option to purchase some additional content for a game you enjoy is generally a good thing. Of course, sometimes it has been less than ideal in execution.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to feel like I'm getting enough value out of NSO, especially since I don't even really play games online.

Yeah, I've honestly never really seen them as being much different than $20 DLC, which can be perfectly fine if there's enough content added.

I'm just gonna say, I've never understood why some people view optional assist modes as a bad thing. They're added for those that need the extra help. More skilled players who would rather experience the full difficulty of the game can simply ignore them, no harm done.

For those into multiplayer, it seems like it would have plenty of value. However, I'm not really one of those people, so it could be a difficult sell for me.
