I am of course not using joint locks and things on my cat! It's just realising how to keep her in place without hurting her and that this knowledge comes from 18 years manipulating my weight to disadvantage other humans at the dojo.

Things I did not expect to use my aikido training for: holding a cat so I can administer eyedrops for her conjunctivitis. She doesn't seem too upset yet but we're only two doses into a week long course...

Man with product to sell tries to sell product.

This AI hype is just ridiculous. I hate every moment of it.

Funny, I follow some Green politicians and hear about their policies a lot.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Has it occurred to them that campaigning on the basis of abolishing ICE and removing certain people via impeachment would potentially gain them the power to do it in the midterms?

If my bins weren't being collected I would be quite put out too.

Sounds like they usually have collections more than once a week though which seems wild to me!

Oh another awful Conservative MP defects to Reform. I thought they were promising change and good things not a reheated version of what the Tories foisted on us while Braverman was in the Cabinet.

I mean obviously Reform's plans are nuts, but they surely need to at least claim to not be Tories.

I know snow isn't common where I live but if people could just use a little bit of their brain and realise their van wheels are spinning because low gear and high revs is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing that would be great.

My level of confidence in how well it's going to be implemented even if it was a good idea to solve actual problems is almost exactly zero. Our government has a terrible track record with big and vital IT projects. And this one has to be absolutely right. Identity info is always a target.

I think it looks pretty cool, seems to be a mΓΆbius strip, but I fail to see the point in 2026 of building a giant monument to people convincing themselves it was an answered prayer instead of all the work put in by doctors or whoever actually influenced the outcome.

I finished a new #linocut! Based on a view of Crow Hill, near Buxton. Oil based inks (Cranfield and Hawthorn) on Stonehenge paper.

I'm not saying the way they're doing it is at all acceptable and there are some ridiculous procedural trainwrecks in play which shouldn't be allowed but there's nothing sacred about something the Commons approved. They've approved plenty of awful stuff in the past, which the Lords then blocked.

It would be really great if more people remembered the thing about driving in the rain and stopping distances and occasionally pondered just how bloody dangerous motorways can be.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

Impartiality is supposed to be about truth! The truth is impartial! Which does mean if we happen to have a political faction which lies a lot they might feel like the bias is against them but that's what you get for lying - or should be.

I really wish they'd replace it with some real art that was humanising about refugees. At least then they'd be complaining about something someone did on purpose.
