I Am Present

One of the pieces of advice I got when I was doing therapy for CFS was to try engaging in mindfulness; and yeah, I'll be real, it didn't cure it. I didn't expect it to.

But it helped, oh gosh it helped.

This piece is a celebration of that, for me at least.

I'm not a big fan of the term "sheeple" as it takes me back to people criticising those of us who chose to follow COVID procedures AND YET---

"We can't fight it so we may as well go along with it 😂 " is a comment I've seen a lot with regards to people doing the Ai slop cartoons.
And I'm just here like, wow, what an utterly terrifying thought to have in this climate 🙃

I went through a bunch of my photos and selected some fun images to draw.
These include takeouts, cafe food, other wedding food, restaurant food, and home made food!

Little painting I did for myself in between some bigger projects.
Based off a monument in a church I visited a couple of years ago. It was super fun working with all the greens and the textures on the grave.
Done with a mixture of watercolours and pencil!

Despite enjoying that winter landscape series, I am currently missing warmer weather.

Witnessed an adorable interaction of a little girl who squealed in delight at the train approaching and the train driver gave her a honk and a wave.
Her parents also lifted her so she could press the button to open the train doors.

Just some little light to share in these bleak feeling times.

This was a fun little project to do, looking through some of the outfit selfies I did over the year and putting them all together!

Went to the dentist today, I expected a few things... what was a true surprise was the dentist chair sounding exactly like the opening honk in "We Like To Party - VengaBoys" as it moved up to get into position. Naturally, it was all I could think about during the whole process.

Honestly, one of the views I will see most commonly in winter... okay not the bin bags but like, a common street, grey clouds, and barren trees
I can still see its beauty though.

I also very much tried to not correct thing and let the paint do what it wanted when it left my brush, which has made it quite impressionistic I feel. Also gets across some of the sparseness in winter too.

Foggy and misty days are a staple of winter for me. It's always interesting to see the world through a slightly dreamy lens and how mysterious everything looks.

One from the local park, celebrating that whilst the trees are bare, you get to see more of the beautiful skies that winter gives us.

I've long wanted to do this image as a painting and I've finally done it! I love the sunsets of winter so much, I just wish we had more daylight.

This is one I was super keen to do, featuring the snowdrops that give us the hope of spring, but the barren shapes of winter that frame everything so beautifully.
