Trips have to end for us to fully appreciate them. The return brings reflection, makes us realize the value of the experience and the lessons learned. For me this was a different trip, something changed in me. I think that is positive.

Chitwan National Park is country's wildlife gem—home to the Big 6: tiger, rhino, leopard, sloth bear, gaur & elephant. With 500+ bird species, deer, boars, monkeys, crocodiles & more, it’s a paradise for nature lovers. It worth it!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit Chitwan National Park. It is a must visit if you like flora and fauna. But remember it's a wild place, not a zoo. So you must be lucky to see animals - specially tiger or leopard.

And my duties? I worked in several areas: from redesigning the website to training staff in project management, to preparing slides for kids and the digital documentation system. It was a privilege to know nepali society trough their eyes.

But... wait? I said I came here to volunteer, didn't I? But what exactly did I do? For 4 weeks I was part of the staff of United Community Nepal. UniCoN is a youth-led, non-governmental, not-for-profit social organization based in Nepal, formally registered in March 2022.

Nepal’s culinary heritage spans diverse ethnic cuisines, including Newa, Thakali, Magar, Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, Limbu, Gurung, Madhesi, Tharu, and Chepang—each with distinct ingredients, techniques, and flavors shaped by geography and tradition.

From steamed to crispy momos and smoky sekuwa to golden sel roti, spicy jhol achar, soft bara, tangy gundruk, and sweet juju dhau—Nepal’s traditional flavors are bold, soulful, and unforgettable.

Let's talk about one of my fav parts: Food. Daal Bhat is a cultural phenomenon in Nepal, made of lentil soup (daal) and steamed rice (bhaat). Often paired with veggie curry, chutney, and sometimes meat or yogurt. Nepalis enjoy it twice a day —lunch and dinner. Dal Bhat Power 24 Hour!

2) The national Nepali cap, known as the Dhaka topi or simply "topi," is a traditional hat that holds deep cultural, historical, and symbolic significance in Nepal. It is recognized as a proud emblem of Nepali identity and is often worn during national celebration.

Today, two symbols:

1) A Khada is a ceremonial scarf in Nepali culture, symbolizing respect, blessings, and purity. It’s offered at weddings, graduations, religious rites, and when guests arrive or depart.

The BS calendar, Nepal’s official calendar since the 3rd century, was established by Emperor Vikramaditya in 57 BCE. Rooted in Hindu tradition, it’s lunisolar, starts with Baishakh (mid-April), and guides religious festivals. It is a unique symbol of Nepalese heritage.

Happy Nepali New Year! It's 1st Baishakh 2082 in the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar—about 56 years & 8.5 months ahead of the Gregorian calendar. So yesterday, at midnight, nepali people celebrated kind of new years eve.

Pokhara offers, among others, breathtaking views of the Annapurna range (consisting of peaks over 7500 meters). There are several famous treks among these magical mountains. Annapurna is, in Hinduism, the goddess of food and nutrition, symbol of prosperity and sustenance.

Finally, a clear day! As someone who loves the mountains, it’s hard to put into words what it felt like seeing the Himalayas in all their glory for the first time. You just have to see it for yourself — nothing else compares.
