🏗️⚛️ The Illinois House Public Utilities committee passed a bill that will remove the size limit on new nuclear plants in the state.

It is one of just 2 states in the country that have such a restriction. Next stop: house floor!

IL Homes For All Coalition Illinois has a housing shortage. Our coalition supports bills to legalize new housing construction in communities across the state.

Finally, we’re proud to support the People Over Parking Act, that eliminates parking minimums near public transit hubs. Both residential and commercial developments are hamstrung by burdensome parking requirements, especially in areas already well-connected with transit.

The second is the Local Accessory Dwelling Units Act. This greatly expands the rights of Illinoisans to build additional housing units on their property. These additional units help families live closer together, alleviate high housing costs, and provide greater freedoms to homeowners.

The first bill, the Affordable Communities Act, stops municipalities like Chicago from using onerous regulations or fees to prevent the development of 2-8 unit buildings. No more making developers jump through hoops to build housing that’s already allowed by law.

Chicago city council just voted to reject a proposal in my ward that would have created 615 new homes next to a Trader Joe’s.

They’ve really fucked up this time. Let’s put an end to this madness in Springfield.
