How wonderful! They might like a little independent reading and colouring. Also, nice a little journaling or independent art work helps to settle the nervous system.

So essential- I’ve been practicing for quite a while. It’s even better if it’s comfortable to be outside and I can listen to the birds, look at the trees, clouds, sky, feel the breeze… sets us up nicely for the day.

Good point! Performance certainly sounds inauthentic, insincere. I appreciate the artistry though - the sense that there is a very creative element that makes learning engaging, provocative, immersive. In some ways, part of the action - not audience.

I see this! I think the “magic” is in understanding the evidence, knowing our students and responding “artfully”. It’s a an art and a science!

The "art," as described in. The passage you've highlighted, really comes down to teachers' interest in, curiosity about, and respect for kids.

Yes, informed practice matters. I think we are getting a lot of “prescribed” “scripted” teaching.

Agreed - the more strategies and approaches we can employ, the more responsive we can be.

This is from Phil Beadle - his thoughts on teaching are provocative. I agree with this one because it speaks to the challenges and calls for creativity and responsiveness. We have all experienced the disengaged or disenchanted teacher!
