The light of the new moon

In Scottish Gaelic and some Scots traditions, time once flowed by the rhythm of the moon rather than the sun. Festivals like Imbolc, or Là Fhéill Brìde, were not fixed to modern calendar dates but moved with the waxing of the gealach ùr - the new moon or the more poetic name solas ur new light/lamp

With Imbolc coming up, I’ve been thinking about how one of Brigid’s (the saint, not the goddess) stories that doesn’t get told often enough is how she pulled her own eye of her head as an act of protest when her parents tried to force her to marry.

Daybreak has become my favorite part of day this Winter. The sun has not yet risen above the horizon and the moon is gracefully perched above as night shifts into day. Birds begin to stir and field mice emerge from the ground as they begin their daily journey. A perfect time to commune with nature.🌅

I am the same as you! honestly my little one is too Lol. She can hear someone open their eyes and she will open her door and say “mama…wake up?” My husb. has been leaving at 5:45 for school every day and no matter if he gets ready downstairs, leaves out the back door, or how quiet he is she knows 🤣

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.
