to me one of the most fun things abt Emp is that the game lays it on thick making it *feel* like he'll probs betray you but most of his attempted "manipulation" of tav is actually quite… straightforward, understandable, & more honest than it seems? and I think Vennet appreciated his blunt attitude

Vennet's biggest disagreement w/ the rest of the party was on using illithid powers (tho she didn't really care; more tadpoles for her!) and then later over trusting the Emperor. she was insistent that they should keep giving the mind flayer a chance (& she was right, that he wouldn't betray them)
