Had a similar issue recently with a VA editing test, though luckily that one was a sine wave so no harmonics to worry about. Itโs at times like that when I wish I was working with iZoTope ๐
Reaperโs spectral functions are great but it definitely isnt at the same level feature-wise.

I definitely see what you mean in terms of some modern bass cronch being cool though having a potential fatigue. Iโve interpreted this as a โslow timeโ spell which would be the playerโs โdesperation moveโ if you like, so we could get away with some of that crunch making its way in. ๐
