The first panel of a sepia-toned digital comic. Two people, one tall and broad (Vyvian) and the other slimmer with glasses (Bernard) stand at a busy dock, discussing goodbyes. Bernard has a heavy bag slung over his shoulder. Bernard: "It feels weird to be out of my uniform, ha. Hopefully the new one will be a bit looser! Did you say goodbye to Aleu already?" Vyvian: "Yeah, last night."

Vyvian looks off to the side, a bit awkward, arms crossed. Vyvian: "It's been a good run here in Astera. I, uh--I just wanted to say, even if things didn't go how you thought...." A memory flashes through Bernard's head, tensing him up. It's a distant recollection of some warm summer night, the two of them a little too close.... A moment that never turned into anything more after that night. Vyvian: ".... And with Oona and all.... I'm glad we met."

But Bernard collects himself, waving the moment off with an only slightly nervous smile. Bernard: "Don't worry about it! I couldn't be happier for you two!" Relieved, Vyvian's arms unfold, and he smiles at Bernard, who rubs at the back of his head with a touch of embarrassment. Vyvian: "....Thanks. Y'know, the Bernard I first met wouldn't have taken it so well." Bernard: "Hah, I like to think I've changed. I mean, the Vyvian I knew wouldn't have said anything." Vyvian: "True."

Excited at the possibility that personal websites might become a thing again. I grew up in the era of custom domains, creative site design and webrings and I miss it all.

(1) A digital painting of a low campfire among the trees, just as the night sky begins to lighten. A tiny dragon pet wakes up to see him leave, concern on its features.

(2) Predawn light has filled the sky now as the black pouflon leaps a quiet creek. In the foreground, the dragon-pet has followed after him, worried.

(3) As the sun rises, the black pouflon has found an open meadow to sit in sullen silence, staring up at the sky to watch the crescent moon fade away. The dragon-pet has caught up with him, but its offered flower is ignored.
