I haven't gotten to use either yet so take my uniformed opinion with a grain of salt lol. But to me it sounds like if you're just trying to chat with friends then Matrix (the main client is called Element) is probably the simplest way to get started.

Matrix: shiny new kid on the block - modern, streamlined. XMPP: old reliable standard that isn't QUITE as simple but way better if you value self hosting and the privacy that comes with.

so yeah. the 44 I think has high enough ridership to justify the greater capacity unlocked by a tram. But realistically. given all the ways in which we've failed our current systems...it would take a complete, no reservations strat to pull this off in a way that would even slightly justify the cost.

So I think my ideal would be: UD Station > Two or three stops in central UW campus (W sign + Red square + fountain?) > UW Station / Hospital > switch back towards University Bridge > Head towards Capitol Hill.

But that switchback would probably look pretty ugly so I'm not fully sold.
