I met Mary Simon in 2017, a couple years before she was made Governor General.
At that time she already had a long history of pushing for an Inuit-led university β it's so great to see that vision come to life.
Our longtime volunteer @rhifaux.bsky.social was hit by a driver yesterday on the way home from a road safety workshop at city hall. She is home from the hospital and recovering with a broken wrist. We're grateful it wasn't worse, and outraged it happened at all. More to say soon.

The company waited until the next day to reach out to the RCMP.

British Columbia's government says OpenAI had a preplanned meeting with provincial officials the day after a deadly shooting at the secondary school in Tumbler Ridge, but the company made no mention of concerns it had regarding the shooter's online interactions with its ChatGPT program.

Non-profits are left with sunk costs, and the burden falls on poor & unhoused ppl while the wealthy are shielded. The province needs to step up!

2. The mother of Maya, one of the airlifted injured girls, has posted a video saying she is responsive and has opened an eye

"Because B.C.βs interest rate back to people not paying their property taxes was often below one per cent over the last decade, those with means could take that money, invest in low-risk funds, and almost be guaranteed to come out with profits."
Yep. I know plenty who did this.
Wow... this is a massive story. The B.C. government had non-profit home providers spend millions in design work & 1,000s of expensive hours with planners & planning deps. to get affordable housing project applications shovel ready.
They've now pulled the plug: grandforksgazette.ca/2026/02/18/b...
Also fun tidbit from the BC budget: BC has received thousands of applications from US health-care workers, and 140 of them have accepted job offers. The advertising campaign cost to recruit these workers was $5 million so thatβs $35,714 spent per accepted job offer.
