It was bad, he was still walking around and ate some food before I took him but was in critical condition by the time I got here. He had liquid surrounding his lungs compressing them, vet was sure it’s either end stage heart failure or end stage cancer. It didn’t feel fair to put him through-

Took Zorak to the emergency vet for labored breathing and he’s in critical condition. He’s Space Ghost’s brother, he’s twelve and he has no known prior conditions. They’re trying to stabilize him now.

Yeah it’s not a good feeling. I can’t ask Chris until he’s up, which will be like three my time at the earliest.

I’ve sort of been accused of being too quick to take cats in to the emergency vet for how much money the rescue manages to pull in for covering bills. 🫠 Mind you, never by the veterinarians but by other rescuers. Still stings.

Any of my vet tech friends awake and want to help be a tie breaker on whether or not I’m taking a cat to the emergency vet? I’ve got two of my rescue friends with opposite opinions and I am just generally worried. 🫠

He wasn’t dying of ringworm or anything and definitely not getting put down over it- that’s a separate rant because I’m always really mad about the way ringworm is treated in general. But his eyes are really bad and Jamie doesn’t have the time or resources to handle him so I had to take him.

I had to pull one of the cats from the other rescue because he was rapidly declining and while I was crating him found he had a patch of what looked like ringworm and now that’s why the house sitter will not be coming. And I’m just really mad. At everything. I don’t think any animal deserves to -

I thought we had all of this settled like months ago and now it’s all falling apart. Like, I can’t even leave for important things without this happening, how long do you think it’s been since I had like, an actual vacation? 🙄

I’m flying down to Texas next week on Wednesday to help Chris make the road trip back home and, man, it is really frustrating that I cannot arrange to leave home for four days and actually find guaranteed reliable help with watching the cats and our dog.

And Frank and Louie! I think there’s been a handful of others that managed to thrive despite the odds as well. It’s really dependent on what managed to form and what didn’t. I’m more surprised that these specific conditions are so common but you never hear about conjoined twins? Just diprosopus.

I helped our friend Brandi from Fresno TNR place a kitten that had hydrocephalus with Michele at Milo’s Sanctuary this week. We spoke about him at CatCon this past weekend and he’s being treated by her neurologist now. His name is Jet but he reminds me of Eddie Munster.

We came very close to getting a Janus kitten yesterday, was asked by our friends in Fresno if we’d like to take him (was planning on contacting Michele and UC Davis because I figured they’d be better equipped to handle him) but his airway wasn’t very well put together and he couldn’t survive.

I’ve been incredibly busy between Rocket Cat chores, assisting Super Furiends, and going down to Crockett every other day to assist Bitten by a Kitten Rescue with cleaning, placing cats in other rescues and homes, and helping with the shutting down of the rescue in general. Photos from BbaK.

Yeah, I used to keep a medical rec, haven’t bothered with it in years because it’s annoying to renew- there’s also the actual medical marijuana card, the practice manager couldn’t tell me which was even needed. (One is a much bigger pain to acquire)

Apparently my temp prescription I convinced her to fill to give me the time to figure out what to do got denied by my insurance, I’m on Medi-Cal until our new insurance kicks in (but have been and it hasn’t been an issue for the last year?) and I’m thinking this is because Medicaid changes :/

Federal registry. I live in California. I also haven’t been tested, they’re going off of self reporting. The manager couldn’t even tell me if I need like a state medical card or if a bullshit medical recommendation would work.
