This wouldn’t be half as funny if this wasn’t the same cat who previously came running when he heard a pill bottle- ANY pill bottle, and who would come and collect me or wake me up for pill time up until about two and a half weeks ago, the day of realization.

After like two years of eagerly taking his seizure medication twice a day in churu, Teddy suddenly realized I’d been hiding a pill in it all along and now every day is a battle. He won’t even eat churu anymore, the trust is gone. 😂

This is like my pet peeve, my cats would do anything for these beds but cat beds in our house HAVE to be washable and stand up to repeat washings if necessary so we can’t really have them 🥲

We wanted to give Goomba a car cat scratcher for her 16th birthday but couldn’t find a good one. (We already owned a truck one though.) Then something we got came in a perfect box to turn into one. So I got the hot glue and scissors out and turned it into van! Used all recycled packaging materials!

In significantly less sad news, this little man pooped!!
He also got some X-rays and oh man, I am so relieved Michele wanted to take him on because he is a super complicated kiddo. His condition is likely caused by congenital hypothyroidism.

Baby Tokki was one of the cutest creatures I have ever seen and I spent many sleepless nights trying to keep her from dying on us when she first came to Rocket Cat.

Her hobbies included opening doors to forbidden rooms, not so that she could enter them herself, but so that she could let every other cat in the house into the forbidden room and walking away. It also made it impossible to use the restroom alone.

I miss her so much already. I’ve never met another cat with so much chaos gremlin energy and love.

At the vet’s office saying goodbye to Tokki

This is what’s left! Big boxes are rodent tunnels and little boxes are smell control charcoal packets

If you run a rodent rescue near Napa though you can go by Lixit on Coombs and there will probably still be some charcoal and tubes! It was kind of a mess so I tidied it and left an open sample of each on top of the pile.

Got a call that a pet store was shutting down nearby and one of our friends rented a huge trailer so we could pick up the pet food they were giving away and take it to the local food pantry and shelters, but we got here and everything but the rodent tubes and charcoal packets were already gone.

Called around a bit to just feel out options and general consensus is that there’s nothing that can be done, I’m just having a hard time with it. I feel better for having at least consulted more people about it, just wish this wasn’t happening. I’ll be okay. Eventually.

I think I’m just unfortunately in the bargaining stage of grief and realistically there just isn’t anything that can be done short of a kidney transplant and that’s absolutely not realistic or even really fair to either cat that it would involve. I really really really appreciate you letting me

I sent her bloodwork to Michele and she doesn’t think it’s worth trying because of how bad the numbers are. We also don’t entirely know what’s up with her to begin with and there’s a chance that there’s some kind of congenital kidney issues going on on top of her weird fate and facial differences.

Even if I could figure something out I’m not sure I could tonight, brain is just not working. I need to sleep at some point but I’m so worried about her. I did get her to drink some water and at least eat a mouthful of friskies of all things.

Yeah, but it kind of makes me feel worse for having sent her away to stay with our vet tech so she could go to the clinic every day. It didn’t fix anything and I feel like she really missed me.

paperwork legit for the rescue if we don’t send it direct to the rescue account. We really need to eventually move to a bank that allows for instant transfers.

My biggest problem is that like with the bank we use for the rescue it takes too long for money to actually show up in the account from PayPal or any other service and it makes it really hard to manage emergencies like this when Chris is out of town because it’s a lot more complicated to keep the

Mandy’s getting some extra food stuff sent over for me to try to get her to eat literally anything because I’m still operating on about two hours of sleep 🫠

Idk if there’s time at this point, but honestly my experience has always been with CKD cats so I don’t know. She was steadily improving and then she stopped, backslid, and stopped eating.

Can’t get her to eat anything at all today. Tried all the stinkiest foods and her favorites, she wouldn’t touch them much less the kidney food. Wish I had the money to just blow on trying dialysis since this started as an injury and not CKD but I wouldn’t even know where to start right now.

It’s not fair I’m not ready to lose her

Yeah, she’s actually been staying with one of our vet techs so she can go up and spend the day at the vet clinic every day while we were trying to get her kidney function back up. It seemed like it was working, now it’s crashed back down to worse than it was when she passed the stone.
