People that desire positions of authority raise an eyebrow for me. It’s one thing to be passionate about something, desiring to enter a space and control and shape that something is different. Intention matters. A self serving mentality is toxic and will burn the community down.

One of these days I truly am going to leave it all behind and disappear into the woods.

I am still thinking about how insanely popular a dedicated mocktail bar was with the under 30 demographic at one of our last events. Like actual excitement was expressed that this existed.

Boy am I glad I brought it home because it was perfect in every other way. So we got a nice board, lots of sand paper, custom stain done up. Which was a huge MASSIVE effort to accomplish.

Is it perfect? No, I am not the kind of carpenter that can build a finished piece of furniture.

2: this desk won’t work and I should have paid attention. It is gorgeous but has no back. It was made to but up against a wall. That just doesn’t work.

But for the drive we just took that made me lock my seatbelt to hold me in the seat and a measly $50 they wanted that desk was coming home.

1: this desk is solid wood, twice as deep as intended, and was custom built for this woman in her last home but they just moved into their new build (beautiful home by the way, built in custom fabricated stainless dog wash sink setup in the garage kind of beautiful)

So i found this crazy nice desk on marketplace right before the ice bs in central va. Well Austin found it. Waited two weeks because their property wasn’t safe to traverse. At pick up I find out 2 things…

A lot of life has been lived from 17 to 35. We sprinkled in a severe anxiety disorder and unpacked a bunch of bullshit but I would really love to find the motivated, confident in her choices, take what she wants woman again.

Looking back at 17 year old me this morning, thinking about how the decisions I made that year of life put me exactly where I am now. They were confident decisions. I knew what I wanted in life. I did the work to make sure I got it.

35 year old me feels really aimless. Unsure of everything…

When things get crazy, when the depression is so thick it tries to hold me prisoner in my bed, my husband drags me out. Sometimes literally. We make stuff or remodel things, we find something physical to do to drown it out. #roomremodel

It feels like I was in my 20s forever, the 30s are breezing by much faster. I do not care for it.

Let me tell you, figuring out what to use for transition between the two flooring types was a uniquely self inflicted challenge. We’ll see if it does what I want it to do when it gets here next week.
Rarely does something come out like it is in my minds eye. I’m pretty pleased so far.

After this snow ice shit melts I’m pulling the trigger on the plow attachment for my riding mower. Better late than never. I am not getting stuck up this hill for a week again.
