It’s a brilliant book with lots of different forms of poetry and details one boys poetry writing journey. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Here’s 5 things I’ve learned about handwriting from writing the chapter.

🥉Handwriting isn’t prioritised that much in English schools anymore. While much of the work that is done in school is with paper and pen, as adults type day-to-day, handwriting’s not seen as important.

Daily handwriting practice using mini-whiteboards. Great for improving letter curvature and promoting uniformity of letter height, width and spacing.

Lidl playing Christmas music at the beginning of September is NOT ok! 😢

Lots of mental short cuts;

90:10 rule, near doubles, add/subtract and adjust, times table tricks etc…

And multi-step questions.

I’ve done a similar group and told the children I’m going to teach them to ‘cheat’ and they really go for it!
