This is too beautiful to not be shared. Without a doubt the most incredible art piece a student has ever handed in to me (especially in a math class). Grade 8 this is by the way! Iโ€™m absolutely floored. #iteachmath #mathartmarch

So impressed with what Ss came up with in #mathtoday. In a group of 3, they had to create an original word problem to do with percentages, they wrote them on their vertical whiteboards and then circulated and answered other groupsโ€™ questions. #iteachmath

I could! Inspired by your video, I put this together this morning. There were 8 for students to visit around the room and essentially vote on each one.

I had a worksheet that students completed as they worked through the prompts to help guide the math work that they should be doing. It needs a bit of tweaking, but Iโ€™m happy to share the resource and the AI prompt I built the space from if anyoneโ€™s interested

SchoolAI AI-Powered Tutors and Learning Activities

I did a cool AI thing! Used SchoolAI to create a RPG style activity and used in Gr 8 math. AI was the โ€œbusiness assistantโ€, Ss were the CEO. Used to practice Rates, Unit Rates, and Conversions. If youโ€™re interested, you could try my space app.schoolai.com/student-spac... #iteachmath #edusky

I havenโ€™t read it yet, but I have a book on the history of mathematics on my shelf.. Iโ€™m excited to read it and to be able to share the history with my students. Sounds like it helped bring the concept to life for you, hopefully could do the same for others. Thanks for the great idea!

So good to remember this as a teacher! It seems to me like this is done most at the younger, elementary ages, have you seen examples of it done well in older grades, and if so what does it look like?

Iโ€™m enjoying exploring maththroughstories.org. Iโ€™ve Taught math using story for years and love it, but it seems much less used in MS/HS. I find engagement so much greater when I tell a story around a math problem. Thoughts? Do you have any great stories that become good math problems? #iTeachMath

Looking for advice: teaching rates to gr 8 next. Always seems to be a v challenging concept for Ss. Engagement is not the issue, any ideas to help Ss develop ways of calculating Unit Rates and finding best buys? #iteachmath #edusky #mtbos

Mm, yeah help them to see the point of the concept, eh? For the curiosity piece, I love spinning a story around a problem that, by the time I get around to posing the question, they are invested and canโ€™t help but want to solve ๐Ÿ˜‚
