Speaking at the summit, Luxon pitched New Zealand as a "safe haven" for international capital, telling ambassadors from all EU countries that the Government is keen to partner with sovereign wealth funds and other foreign investors to fund major infrastructure projects.

"We've got classic infrastructure like prisons and military bases and hospitals to build," Luxon said. "We want to be using domestic pools of capital, partnering with international pools of capital."

I have good news for people looking at the crisis in Southland and wondering where Luxon is. Yesterday he was busy trying to secure international pools of capital to help build prisons, military bases and private hospitals. What a wonderful future we have to look forward to ๐Ÿ˜’

The Luxon Govtโ€™s bonkers plan to build 17 Big New Roads that we donโ€™t really need will cost us at least $44 billion.

Thatโ€™s enough to rebuild Dunedin Hospital 23 times over or to massively improve public transport and cycle infrastructure in all our cities. #nzpol

Cozying up to fascists must mean Judith Collins has gotten over her shock at the relocation of parliament's Winston Churchill painting in August 2021.

At the time she said, "he was one of the very few political leaders who was prepared to stand up to the Nazis and fascists..."

The majority of the public are in support of teachers, nurses and health workers walking off the job in Thursdayโ€™s mega strike, new polling suggests, as politicians bicker over who is at fault and the politicisation of the industrial movement.

Talbot Mills Research, which also does Labourโ€™s internal polling, found 65% of the 464 asked were in support of the mega strike, a quarter (25%) were opposed, and 10% were unsure.

Supporters of the strike were also more likely to be opposition party supporters.

Those polled were asked: โ€œAs you may be aware a โ€˜mega- strikeโ€™ is planned for Thursday the 23rd that will include around 100,000 teachers, nurses, and other health workers. How strongly do you support or oppose that strike action?โ€

The poll was taken between October 16 to 21.
