Maybe the Dems need to stop trying to copy off the republicans’ tests and just do their own work to turn out voters. And put to bed the stupid lie of centrist electability. /end

And it doesn’t really seem to matter how far left a democrat is, the fact that they won’t identify with the Republican Party means that every right wing talk show will be screaming “socialist” about them. 7/

And not once did it matter how centrist, how vanilla, how lackluster the Democrat—they have never “won the center” by being centrist. Those years democrats won, they won by boosting turnout, not by converting republicans. 6/

Anyone left of Reagan for the last 40 years (and probably longer) as been called a “socialist” by the Republican Party. Most of them were never even remotely close to being socialist. 5/

And then Harris, who was barely a stitch left of Biden….

And the republicans screamed “socialist socialist socialist!” 4/

And the Republicans screamed “socialist!”

Then we ended up with Joe Biden instead of any of the 20 other candidates in 2020. Joe Biden, who is exactly as radical left as George W Bush.

And the republicans screamed “socialist!” 3/

Except that the democrat establishment has repeatedly picked conservative centrists exactly for this reason. Because they’re afraid of losing the middle.

So instead of Bernie Sanders, we ended up with Hillary Clinton as the nominee in 2016. So that they could “win the center”. 2/

Since Tuesday all I’ve heard from republicans is a screeching choir of “he’s a socialist! The democrats will never win anything again with a socialist!” 1/

For all the hollering about the “MSM agenda”, the ones with the blatant agenda seem to be the right wing talking heads.

And this just makes me horrifically sad. /end

The right wing talking heads don’t care about keeping people informed, they don’t want people informed, they aren’t even interested in spinning the story. They want no story. They want to stoke irrational hatred, so people won’t care enough to seek other sources of information. 11/

People who are isolated in the right wing media info cycle aren’t hearing about the same events, and probably don’t even realize the things I take for granted as being common knowledge are happening. 10/

I was under the impression that right wing media was talking about the same basic events, but spinning them to suit their messaging.

Now I realize they aren’t even getting the same basic events. 9/

That’s how much they are bending over backwards to avoid talking about anything that is actually happening.

And it scares me, and saddens me, but explains so much. 8/

Now I only left it on for a minute, and it’s a long talk show. So maybe they talked about current events elsewhere in the show. But they’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel to pull up old fabricated nastiness about a former First Lady who’s been low profile for a year. 7/

She’s going to run for president. No she wants to be a model. No, she’s [insert old vileness they’ve been repeating for almost two decades]. 6/

Was EM the villain, was this DT’s plan all along? I mean, it was eating so much oxygen in the news cycle, Glenn Beck and his sidekick MUST be talking about it, right? 4/

And when I realized it, I almost flipped back to FM reflexively, but then stopped myself and thought that I wanted to hear how the right was spinning the EM/DT breakup. 3/

Now the only AM preset on my car radio is the station that carries Guardians baseball, and that is literally the only time I listen to AM radio. But this station is mostly right-wing talk during the day. 2/

Last weekend, while running errands, I reached to turn on the car radio, and with the touchscreen, I accidentally switched the radio to AM. 1/

And she SMILED while she said it!

It's weird to me that so many of my neighbors voted to take away their own healthcare to give me a tax cut. They need their health care. I don't need a tax cut. Neither does anyone who makes more than me, either.

The cognitive dissonance of people who are politically “conservative” complaining about “indoctrination” in higher ed, using the examples of how liberal their own college profs were. When pointed out that they themselves were not “indoctrinated” they insist they are somehow special…

English major weighing in on the “dire wolves”….Romulus and Remus were RAISED by wolves, not wolves themselves, but I’m most annoyed that they named the female “Khaleesi”—why in the world are they naming a dire wolf after a Targaryen?! Call her Sansa, Nymeria, SOMEthing Stark-adjacent! Ugh…

One conversation: “Liberals always claim to be morally superior!”

Another conversation, that was criticizing the ultra wealthy: “Commie Godless scum! Why do you hate Jesus!!”

…Claiming moral superiority is kind of the GOP’s thing….
