Democracy requires an educated population and an independent press, not MAGA and Postmedia. We are doomed unless we fix this. Nonpartisan centrist living in the Comox Valley.

Poilievre has said he wants US-style βcastle doctrineβ law in Canada. This is what happens with that: dead innocent people.
Canadaβs current laws allow reasonable, commensurate force to protect oneβs home, family and assets. Letβs leave it that way.

(Either that or the party goes even more RWNJ #MapleMAGA and chooses Baber or Lewis.)
I am constantly gobsmacked by how many voters vote for a party without any idea whatsoever who their candidate is.
Thatβs the demographic who gets riled up when MLAs and MPs leave a caucus.

Mamdani is a uniquely exciting and articulate politician, like Obama was.
Nobody running for the federal NDP leadership has anywhere near this level of personality.
I donβt want a federal election in the next 2 years, so I will take a majority if it happens.
05.11.2025 19:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a non-issue. Anyone who thinks that reducing the PS by 10% through attrition over 3 years is going to negatively affect services hasnβt spent any time in the Ottawa PS. I have and I welcome this.

Itβs no surprise the CLC is against downsizing of the public service, full stop.
As a reasonable moderate centrist who was for years part of that public service, I know the downsizing could have gone much further, with no impact on service to the public.
Because Ottawa bloat.
If you think more public servants means better service for the public, you havenβt spent years working for the government in Ottawa.
The bloat in the PS, especially at middle management, actually makes everything more inefficient.
I lived this.
Dβentremont has clearly been very unhappy with Poilievreβs leadership for a long time, so this is not a surprise. And in a swing riding it makes sense.
05.11.2025 07:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Public service reductions should have been much deeper and could have been achieved through attrition and ending terms and casuals.
Numbers will still remain well above 2016, and when I left the PS in 2016 it was a bloated mess of too much management.
On most of the planet, this guy would be considered a moderate centrist.
In America heβs falsely labeled a communist by a regime that is actually fascist.

Rest assured that US boots on the ground in most of those places - including here in Canada - will mean US casualties.
Thatβs a promise.
I first got TSSA clearance as a Corporal in the Regular CF (which is near the bottom of the military food chain), so every time I read about PPβs lack of clearance I am livid.
Clearance is based on need-to-know, and the LOO definitely needs to know.
For a dictatorship that claimed it was anti-war, they sure have threatened a lot of wars recently: Greenland, Iran, Venezuela, now Nigeria.
Being black, oil-rich, and 55% non-Christian ups the odds this one might happen.
Every riding is a different election and in many the LPC are not contenders. While the LPC might squeak out a majority, itβs just as possible the CPC would.
Iβd rather not take the risk.
Itβs clearly a breach of CCC S.264(1). The affected politicians should be filing complaints with the local police ASAP.
