I don’t think this album needs an American Teenager or anything, but I do think it gets a shade monotonous for my taste. But see above, you know?

I think that’s what made the moments of it on Preacher’s Daughter work, that it was used sparingly to create tension or highlight the eerie atmosphere.

The new Ethel Cain is good, beautiful at moments — don’t get me wrong. But I definitely prefer the droning instrumental elements as part of a greater whole rather than as the whole itself.
