The faces of that little girl and that grandmother will be burned into my mind until I die. There have been too many faces like that over the past several years.

That little girl went hungry for nothing.
That grandmother and her grandchildren went hungry for nothing.

Because democratic senators didn’t like waiting in longer lines at the airport. Because they are bought and paid for by corporate lobbyists.

There’s a reason that people end up feeling more resentful towards strike breakers than they do towards bosses. It’s because they are traitors. Because when people break the strike, it means all the suffering of the strike was for nothing.

All Dems had to do was hold the line.

But they didn’t.

This shutdown was supposed to work like a strike. And it was working. People knew the republicans were to blame. They control everything. They are in the middle of an ideological civil war, and their figurehead is a demented imbecile who has VERY OBVIOUSLY had multiple strokes.

Because when the government doesn’t take care of the people, the people take care of each other. Because these are our neighbors, and we hope that if we got down on our luck, they would do the same for us.

And every person there helping out, we were all willing to do that. To do our part. Even though the work is hard both physically and emotionally. Because it was right.

Another face that stood out was a grandmother who was raising her grandchild because the child’s parents were in active addiction. They no longer had food because of the republicans.

There were other children there, but I think sometimes when you’re doing this kind of work, faces occasionally just stick with you. She clung to her mother, too shy to talk to the strangers handing out soup to her mother. This tiny girl, no older than five, facing hunger.

When we were out helping Huntington Citizens Action Group the other day, there was a little girl that was there with her mother. I’m not sure why she, in particular, stood out to me.

I’m furious, friend.

Look… I know that the Supreme Court gave him immunity, but… you gotta put him in jail. Honestly, it is the most humane option at this point. Because historically speaking, when people have big parties while people starve, they tend not to have their heads for very long after.

Yes I am aware that the original idiom was meant to mean “something that is easy” but there has been a connotation of sneakiness, greediness or underhandedness to the idiom for decades and yall know it.
