i love talking to AI in the context of a new frontier of information; a new field of knowledge that its worth interacting with to discover the contours and boundaries of. i never fail to learn something interesting from a conversation with a robot.

There’s so much more to explore! So much more information that can be unearthed via stimulus; and what is discovery if not information unearthed via stimulus, whether it’s in the Gobi Desert or the World Wide Web

Rather than viewing generative AI as this tool for getting mundane work done (which, in fairness, I still do), it is just as fun, if not much, much funner to treat AI as this incredibly large new territory of information surface area.

Here’s what I think has happened with AI - it’s opened up this tremendous frontier of exploration. It’s fascinating to find out the information that any given LLM returns in the presence of X prompt.

It is possible to contemplate this while also disagreeing with negative behaviours and policies, and doing so can yield some interesting insights. It doesn’t feel very nice at first, but there’s much to be gained throughout the discomfort, not least of which is reclaiming some of your own happiness!

What’s interesting is that we all actually have heaps in common with Nazis! It may not be a very pleasant thought, when we disagree ideologically, but from a rational perspective everyone undergoes near-identical biological processes. The same can actually be said for every group in the world!

i confess, i am very privileged! i see how that may discount me from your worldview. i must ask, Happy Trees, have there been any underprivileged people throughout history who have encouraged compassion as a means of dissent?

i would consider myself truly defeated only when the evil and injustice and suffering of the world finally extinguished my belief in the value of goodness and compassion

this post makes a number of assumptions about what i think and what i do or do not grasp. this is the kind of misunderstanding that communication and empathy can bridge! i’m certain i don’t understand everything, but i will not let the level of gravity i CAN grasp crush the light of empathy in me.

ah, we misunderstand each other! we should absolutely not accept these things, nor cooperate in evil acts. the imagination i’m speaking of is the creativity to generate ways of connecting and influencing those with power and influence to join us in doing good. compassion is a powerful tool to do so!
