My controversial opinion is that expecting horror to scare you does a disservice to the huge swath of things under the umbrella of horror that are dark in tone, macabre, or otherwise Gothic.

Hadn’t put pen to paper in yearly three weeks, since a few days before school started.

With everything going on in the world right now, feels like bigger win than usual.

Then again, the story I started was about societal collapse so…

On the 1st week of school, I told myself I hoped to make time for writing by the second week of school.

2nd week, was still catching up with other to-do’s.

3rd week, oldest kid got sick and husband had carpal tunnel surgery.

Here’s hoping the 4th week is the charm.

If you’re damaging other people’s kids, I’m damaging my own because I’ve already got my 13yo reading Stephen King, after I leveled her up from you and Senf and the like.

Hoping to go see this, this week.

Hoping to find time tomorrow to (a) type up/edit some finished pieces or (b) actually write.

Both would be nice.

I’d like to think insurance companies realize it’s cheaper to pay for a vaccine than a doctor’s visit, let alone a hospital stay.

Im so glad im just old school enough that I do this. I have a drawer in my filing cabinet, each story gets its own file. The ones that have sold have printed contracts with them.

Only thing I don’t do is the sticker, and I’ll be adding that when I have time.

Today I submitted my application for associate membership to the #SFWA and finally set up an author specific email so I can easily find my rejections/acceptances.

I would have been happy if the story had ended with the bears and the torches lighting their tire change…then it kept getting better. That was beautiful—the radials, the newberrys, the solitary bears and solitary troopers. Now I’ll be looking for fires at night.
