One of my aunts, an old Hungarian woman, who lived in a small farm near Portage la Prairie, used to make me fried bread dough as a treat when I was young. I would carry it around the farm, tearing off a piece with my teeth and calling it "chewing tobacco". It was wonderful.

We bought a bunch of those 600 ml square, glass food containers with the plastic lids from Ikea, and store it in them. I find it keeps for several months without freezer burn (at least for us). I use them for most things though I have had freezer burn issues with meat leftovers if left too long.

I used to like it as well. Now I just make my own but there is something to be said about opening a tin when you just want one meal vs making a huge pot and freezing it.

Five of my first wife's siblings, including her, were conceived on St Peter St Paul day. Apparently it was the one day a year that her mom would have drinks. Needless to say, their birthdays were all close together.

Instead of becoming angry with the bambis that inhabit my neighbourhood (herds of 5 or 6 are not uncommon in the twilight hours or at night) I have learned to cover those bushes I covet, and accept the likelihood that anything else I plant will be eaten.

Back in the early 80s, I worked for a few years as an I/O clerk in our IT dept. We worked a full day time shift then took turns being on call during the evening/night. I took so many calls over the years that I answered & dealt with an issue without waking up. The paperwork was on my desk in the AM.

We had toast for lunch! With melted cheese, sliced tomato, chopped sweet onion and mayo. Well, I had the onion and mayo. My wife skipped them. It was good but toast with peanut butter, and saskatoon jam is really good as well.

Oh yeah. You don't have to convince me of that. Our previous range was Samsung. A key part failed but it was impossible to find a replacement. According to the repairman, it was an "innovation" that didn't work and was discontinued after a couple of years. New parts were also discontinued then.

I live in Winnipeg. The only time we have rabbit problems is when there isn't at least one neighbourhood cat that is allowed to free roam by it's owners. If there are 1 or 2 cats, the rabbits are not an issue. The local deer on the other hand are more of an issue.
