A hand sculpted and painted octopus sculpture, depicting the species Octopus cyanea, also known as the Day Octopus.

This sculpture has a warm brown pattern with subtle patches, a bluish webbed pattern and a big white stripe over the mantle.

The paintwork represents one of this species most remarkable color expressions.

A picture of the Liverpool Pride 2025 march. The focus of the picture is a man in amongst the crowd of people marching together near the Liver building in Liverpool. The man is wearing a black tshirt with a dragon graphic on it and "trans rights" written on it. He is holding a placard that says: Don't talk to me about "biological sex" I am a biologist.

Liverpool Pride 2025 was a good time. I got lots of compliments on my sign today.

The speeches at the start were super moving. I found myself in tears on a few occasions. The energy of the people marching today was great, so many people marching in solodarity for trans people πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ©·πŸ€πŸ©΅

I'm taking steps to improve upon this, but it will be a lot of work to undo a lifetime of negative thought patterns.

I struggle to not hear those criticisms inside my own head whenever I make a mistake, or interrupt someone while they are talking etc. Instead of my adhd diagnosis giving me a sense of self acceptance right now, I'm dealing with frustration and despair that nobody thought to intervene earlier.

I guess its silly to try and think like that, as the support that exists now didn't really exist in the same way when I was a kid.

I've apent my whole life being told I'm lazy, clumsy, don't try hard enough, that I'm careless, that I am a time waster.

I am resentful that I wasn't diagnosed with adhd before I spent 3 decades nuturing a permanent state of insecurity and low self esteem as a result of living with my adhd symptoms. Currently mourning 'a life that could have been' if I'd had a diagnosis earlier.

Yesterday I was diagnosed with ADHD. It's good to have an answer for some of the issues I've been facing in the past (and present). There's a 10 month(!!!) wait on starting titration of medication which is frustrating, but what's one more year when I've been waiting my whole life.

Well, he had another emergency blockage and they had to intervene with surgery. I hope he pulls through, it's been a really difficult year for me already and I don't want to lose my baby boy too 😭

My 11 year old ginger tabby, Hannibal, has been dealing with a urinary blockage recently. Very scary to deal with 😭 Hoping the changes we make to his diet will help, otherwise he's going to need surgery πŸ˜₯😷

I arrived yesterday in Berlin for the Marcus Maurer Mast Cell Training School. The normal camera on my phone is scratched up so I'll be taking a lot of wide angle shots and selfies haha. Its my first time in Germany, and I've not been out of the UK since 2013, so this is an exciting experience!

I am hoping that there will be more communication with trans people about this and more empathy overall. Its upsetting to see my trans peers struggle with this, and a lot of the time we feel like we're alone when institutions don't give us a clear answer on how we should live our lives.

I am more afraid to use public places though. If I don't know a space has a designated gender neutral space, I am less likely to be able to go there. This restricts my freedoms and affects my quality of life. I am lucky enough to pass as a cis-man but the emotional toll and the fear remains.

I know many trans people that are very anxious about this ruling and opting to stay at home due to the anxiety this uncertainty has created. I'm lucky enough that my work building has a gender neutral bathroom, but I know many people don't have this luxury.

I'm frustrated by the vague responses given by politicians and institutions when talking about this issue. Rather than repeating that the law gives clarity on these issues, why not actually listen to the problems that are being faced and attempt to address them? Where is the guidance?

24.04.2025 05:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That was clearly a mistake. Lived experience highlights the incredible number of issues trans people have to deal with on a daily basis, and restructuring language in law without taking into consideration those challenges is dangerous and pointless.

-sex toilet facilities. This is just focusing on bathrooms, but the problem continues with changing rooms for workplaces and gyms. Trans people just want to be allowed to exist and society makes it very difficult to do that. There was no consultation with trans people with this ruling.

Disabled toilets have been suggested as a space trans people could use, but many public places locatd their accessible cubicles within gendered spaces. This means we'd have to enter a single sex space in order to access a cubicle. Older buildings especially frequently don't have anything but single-

The law also suggests that transgender men be blocked from accessing women's spaces if they appear physically masculine. But then this introduces the issue of - where are we supposed to go? Despite what politicians are suggesting, gender neutral spaces are actually hard to find in many public places

24.04.2025 05:49 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Access to single sex spaces will be restricted, and this includes toilets. According to the supreme court trans people are supposed to use restrooms that align with their biological sex. I assume this means sex assigned at birth, but exactly what it means has not been clearly defined.
