Bug Heaven - Wasn’t This Supposed to Be Fun? album art a stuffed sloth falling from the sky above the ocean

This record took so long to make, I don't think I'd ever be able to organize my thoughts enough to make a coherent post about it. (I've already been trying for about 30 minutes as I write this.) I'm grateful to everyone who made it happen, and I hope some of you enjoy listening to it. Thanks, first and foremost, to Alex, Kelly, Drew, and Austin for investing so much time and energy into playing in this band with me. Wherever Bug Heaven takes me, I will always miss the first 4 years of this band more than anything. You wouldn't know it from these songs, but 2020-2023 were literally the happiest years of my life, and it was largely due to being in this band with the four of you. I love you all from the bottom of my heart.
I don't have a lot else to say, but a lot of people have been involved in the making of this record and in the past 5 years of this band, so I'm going to drop the credits and thank-yous here.

Thank you to:
Reuben Houser, who played guitar on a few of these songs and who I egregiously neglected to thank in the last album's liner notes for building more than half of my guitar pedalboard, Alex Brown, Mike Bauer, Yasmine Sayre, and Ellen Magnuson for the merch designs & show posters, David Schildman, Hannah Theobald, James Dean, Ben Semisch, Scotty Fields, Nat Breeden, and Thrash Panda for the photos, Zach Schmeider & crew at The Sydney, Alex Jochim and all the folks at Petshop/Petfest/BFF, Pat Oakes, Bill Sharp, and everyone at InkTank, Anne Hepburn & crew at The Slowdown, O'Leaver's Pub, Reverb Lounge, Pageturners Lounge, Bourbon Theater, Duffy's Tavern, Lefty's in Des Moines, Onion Transfer, Kung Fu Necktie, and Porchfest in Philly, Taylor Eagan, Eric Mellow, Adam Haug/Haunted Gauntlet/Conny Franko/M34n Str33t, Mikey Elfers/Lindsey Yoneda/Vempire, Alex Steele, Thomas Rehbein/Toilet Rats, Thom Flaherty, Jim Schroeder, DIY Twitter, Will Green/Full Blown Meltdown, Josh McManus/isitjosh, Megan Siebe, Mary Holzapfel, Shelby Hinman, Howdy Bates, the Shuck family, the Langin family, the Brown family, the Augustine family, the Elsberry and Ohm-Moser families, JP Flexner and Joe DeCarolis for keeping Bug Heaven alive in Philly, all the bands we've played with, everyone who has ever run sound or worked the bar for our shows, and all the venues I forgot to mention. Everyone who has listened or come to a show so far, everyone who has said nice things or bought merch, everyone who has put one of our songs on a playlist, everyone who has said a kind word about anything we've made - thank you. Love, Drew Shuck & Bug Heaven.
As always, for Jmal, forever.
