AI developers train their models on stolen work, making using AI to write not only lazy, but also immoral and lowkey plagiarism

I'm beta reading friends manuscript, and she writes so fast that she doesn't put commas in as she writes and it makes my brain explode

Sometimes you sit down to write and instead you research saints and their relics for 2 hours

I'm currently in a hostel in Prague, and this is the second night in a row that I am the only person in the 6-bed dorm.

this one is full on fantasy and I forgot just how much I love my little prince

I am jumping back into a different manuscript (which I refer to as Flower Prince WIP) while my Forest WIP is out with beta readers.

I was just going to read the 10k words I had to remember where I was up to, but instead I added 600 words to just the first chapter

Not only is using AI lazy and missing the whole point of writing, but it's also plagiarism?? Like, the models that these AI's use are trained on other people's (probably stolen) work???

after being in editing mode for almost a year, I forgot how fun it is just to write!

(granted I am writing fanfiction and that is just fun in general, but!!!!!!! i did write 1.5k words today without even really trying)

The phrase "thought to themself" is redundant, who else are they thinking too.

A really good writing teacher told me to take every reference of specific modern things (wifi, pop-culture, brands of any sort) out of my writing to make my stories feel more timeless, and I think about it every time I read a book that mentions musicians or TV shows by name

Unless you are writing in a historical setting, don't use the word 'whilst' outside of dialogue. While works just as well and doesn't sound pretentious

In my edits, I have been thinking about writing advice I have been given by teachers and peers, and as a way to procrastinate editing, here are the ones I think about daily:

I have less than 10K words to edit and its taking everything in me not to just go back to the start and edit it all again

i have 30 scenes left to edit and 7 days to do it before I go on holiday for 2 months.

that's only 4 scenes a day? i should be able to get through this

Finally back and editing!! 2k words and I hit 90k

EEEEEEEEEEEEE Never been so excited for anything g in my life!!!!!

i added a 2k word chapter from Nolan's pov and I accidentally gave him too much character development, which is a good thing, but now I need to change all his internal monologues for the next few chapters until they catch up to where his mind currently is

I'm 40 words away for 85k.

Every time I hit a milestone I am surprised, then I set another one and am surprised when I hit that too.

I don't wanna get my hopes up for 90k words, but maybe...

I wrote this exchange yesterday, so sorry for any typos, but I finally have a scene where these two interact directly!!

-50k words on Forest!WIP
-8 episodes + 1 minisode (18k words) written for my forever-in-progress podcast
-7k words of Hero hike!WIP

Feeling very proud of all this work, and hopeful for all of it to pay off in 2025 #writesky #writing

this draft I'm doing the smart thing, keeping notes about my characters to make sure i don't contradict myself later.

this only occurred to me after i fully forgot one of my characters wears glasses.

Other notes I had to make, who has a drivers license and what colour everyone hair was

i keep trying to give my tattoo artist character a neck tattoo before remembering he is only 19 and definitely would not have a neck tattoo (yet)

Just a few things for the first half of the year:

- Finish my second draft of forest!wip
- Send out the draft to a few beta readers
- Once Beta reader notes are back in, begin draft 3
- Have a polished manuscript ready for querying

Hopefully

This Christmas has been a rough one, and my life is not going to get easier for a while so I have had to put a break on editing to get my head on straight again
