15.10.2025 06:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Decided to pop into a fine restaurant in London Bridge, turns out the queue is 3-4 months. But it's cool, they have an app.

Young men more likely to vote Green than Reform. Young men second most progressive group of any demographic. Combined right-wing vote barely bigger than Green vote alone for young men
Ok, so Lib Dems, Labour and Greens need to form a coalition.... like immediately. And they need to implement ranked choice or PR. Have a referendum. Anything but first past the post. Then the normal political process can resume....

Flying through Mitch and Webb Are Not Helping.... I really miss sketch shows!

#Film
The thing I mostly remember about reading Frankenstein was that the monster was....quite loquacious.
02.09.2025 19:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This novel... gut punch.
01.09.2025 20:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm quite relaxed. If you carve out 'post science fiction' or anything that is now fully co-opted to the mainstream...then sure you can make an argument the genre is on decline.
Science fiction more widely defined though, I think it is thriving. My tbr isn't getting any shorter.
Failure to address the unsustainability of the triple lock pension is pure political cowardice.
24.08.2025 06:47 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't care for films that slowly tilt the camera around so that the sky is upside down in order to show that everything is a bit woo woo.
Feels like a lazy cinematography trick at this point.
Really sorry to see the Sidcup Storyteller struggling, it's a great asset to the high street.
I hope the new owners consider putting in air conditioning and maybe more oldy woldy cinema decor (red velvet etc.)

30.07.2025 13:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's not just about growth and an efficient economy from one year to the next, there is also something to be said for investment in physical capital and know-how, which I I feel we have traded away too easily for skills in spreadsheets, coding, finance etc.
23.07.2025 10:49 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Have just spent a happy hour in the Kelham Island Museum. Came out more convinced than ever that western industrial policy is failing long term. As an economist my bias is towards free trade and market access, but somewhere in this formula you need to protect your industrial base.
23.07.2025 10:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0There was also a ST Voyager episode with a similar premise.
13.07.2025 21:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... This policy is so dumb, like mathematically. The sooner some party has the courage to walk it back, or at least water it down, the better.

05.07.2025 23:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Watched Nosferatu. Bryan from the Horror Movie Club podcast had this weird take that there is something Wes Anderson-like about Eggers. His attention to detail, meticulous style etc.
I think I agree.
What ever happened to the mosquito lazers?
02.07.2025 20:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ok, so I'm not saying Bo Burnham's 2021 album Inside was the best album of the year, but it was the most zietgeisty. Perfectly captured the cultural spasm that gripped us in the covid years.
26.06.2025 06:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is the way. Consensus seeking politics, by design.
25.06.2025 17:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I spent the morning looking for a Cure song that was stuck in my head. Turned out the song was 'I Love You' by Fontaine's D.C.

19.06.2025 23:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think this article is quite scathing, in its fashion.
