I wonder if they will apply the same zealot stupidity to businessmen who want to bring their capital in the US.
It's so absurd to think that in 2019 I was excited to move to the US for a postdoc and now I would be terrorized.

It's a wrap!
We had a good time in GΓΆteborg with 45 registered participants, one keynote, 14 talks, four posters, two tutorials and three discussions on various topics around Research (Software) Engineering!
β€οΈ Thank you to everyone and see you next year June 9-10 2026 in TromsΓΈ, Norway! βοΈ

CAA Australasia member Corey Noxon standing at a lectern in a lecture theatre, with a large slide presentation behind him reading 'Multiscalar Digital Recording of Archaeological Features and Pottery Remains at the Suwahara Site, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan'.
CAA Australasia member Emily Tour sitting at a table and presenting, with a slide presentation behind her reading 'More than just pretty faces: Exploring shape data derived from 3D models of artefacts.'
CAA Australasia members Aleks Michalewicz and Brian Armstrong standing in front of a slide presentation with images showing the UNESCO Budj Bim cultural landscape and its location within Australia.
Looking back at the amazing week that was #CAA2025 in Athens! Our Australasia crew repped with some great presentations, and there was an excellent program of panels filled with digital ethics, archaeogaming, network analysis, digital field recording, 3D modelling, machine learning, and more!

Our session about maritime mobility in particular was a highlight, as were many of the conversations we had around coffees and dinners. The "stick and flick" method?? π€’ even if it was a good idea from the fertilizing perspective, we share spaces with humans too. People other than dogs would like to walk in the grass or have picnics! And let's not forget the potential harm that poop can have on both humans and animals (parasites...)

In 2021, over 1700 spacecrafts and satellites were put into orbit. Light pollution caused by SpaceXβs Starlink satellites are the worst offenders because they are low Earth orbit satellites, and they travel in satellite trains. One can only assume the issue will exponentially increase in the next few years, with SpaceX alone intending to launch over 40,000 satellites in total. The space industry is almost entirely unregulated, with no limits on the amount of satellites that anyone is able to launch and there is currently no regulation in place to minimise the light pollution they cause."
