It’s not “whataboutism” to point out that China has transgressed on the same level as the US. It’s pointing out that a narrative is being crafted and pushed to justify imperial action against it

You can keep screaming about how these are the bad guys. Lots of people considered it unpatriotic to question the evidence of WMDs in Iraq. But how many violent engagements does our country have to engage in, with the public learning the true costs 10 years later before we begin to question

China is a threat to the US imperial project. It is pulling potential resources away from the US. And now, instead of speaking of various human rights abuses and fascist movements around the world, the US media and politicians focus on China

We saw the consequences of their machinations with the invasion of Iraq in the war on terror.

Before invading the news outlets and politicians were all constantly claiming WMDs and Saddam’s oppressive regime

I’m not going to make the claim that China is some perfect socialist utopia. It’s not. It did commit a human rights abuse, but one on level with the US’s treatment of migrants.

But neocons have been looking for the next big struggle since the fall of the USSR

This is such a tiresome dialogue to engage in constantly.
1. If fascism was America’s foreign policy concern we wouldn’t invite Modi to our country and
2. If genocide was America’s concern we wouldn’t have favorable relations with Saudi Arabia while they butcher Muslims in Yemen

Where did I say any of that? China has been tackling poverty before embracing capitalism, and it’s embrace of capitalism has slowed this progress. I’m not sure why you’re rapid firing anti-China talking points at me right now for pointing this out

Skar… they’ve been lifting people out of extreme poverty since the inception of the PRC, life expectancy has been trending up before China embraced Dengist policies. Or in other words, billionaires post date their efforts to combat poverty

Ppl sometimes mistake my husband for Jay. Once we were at a show at the bartender said “Holy shit are you Jay Mascis?” “No, but people say that a lot.” “Ah I get it man, 😉” and gave us our drinks for free lmao
