Today, all Cursed Morsels store proceeds that would normally go to me will instead go to rent relief for 16 St. Paul families affected by ICE detention and occupation.

β€œGood afternoon. My name is [redacted] and my wife and I have been at OMDC since April 15 2025,” reads a handwritten note, wrapped around a lotion bottle that was thrown by a man held captive inside the Otay Mesa Detention Center (OMDC) on Sunday.

β€œIt’s cold here all the time and the food is poor,” the missive continues. β€œFor 280 days we haven’t eaten a single piece of fruit, banana, apple, orange, or anything fresh. We are all in one big room with no doors or windows. We can’t see any grass or trees. We are all constantly sick.”

When you see unhoused people asking for money what you should see is a fracturing of the social contract where an issue (housing) that should be addressed on a municipal or statuary level is instead foisted on individuals in a way designed o put callouses on their souls

Hey there. I see you’re interested in food. Well, watch out, because every food tastes different. Just because one food tastes good, that doesn’t mean a different food will taste good too. Well, that’s all. I think you’re ready to start your food journey. Come back if you need that info again.

Is a small bronze charm of a erect phallus with anatomically correct testes, a strange dorsal fin, and a glorious set of wings. It is in mid flight, presumably off to spit

not for nothin but the fascinus is a winged phallus charm from roman times meant to ward off evil and specifically the evil eye. when invoked, the fascinus should fly around and spit in the eye of your enemy

What’s wild here is almost no one who styles themselves as public intellectuals who proudly put their names on a list in service to this β€œanti-woke” movement will be asked to account for their decision making in this regard.

We’re treating social media like a moral failing rather than an infrastructure substitute.

When young people have no safe, low-cost third spaces, the phone becomes the youth club, the park and the bus pass.

If we restrict that, we need to replace it with real-world belonging, not just rules.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) β€” Alberto CastaΓ±eda MondragΓ³n says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance.

But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain.

He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friend’s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again.

He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man β€œpurposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

ppl will find basically anything to argue about, then convince themselves after the fact that their rage matters. It's the thing rage wants most - mattering - a perfect jewel that all the gold on earth cannot buy. You hear anything about Benghazi lately. Do you remember President Nixon

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.

A desperate plea sent to me by a Minneapolis resident who's been on the front lines since the beginning of the ICE occupation:

the idea that making art is embarrassing if you don't do it well enough to make a career out of it is an objectively harmful and toxic brainworm.

All day I sing songs called β€œMy Problems”
and β€œWhere Is God”
without great breath control. There’s coffee,
ipecac, and a raccoon
with distemper, trinity of the inevitable
to destroy your heart.
The teeth of the comb are my teeth.
Hair of the fog. I ladle my losses
from vat to bowl,
quick as I can, there’s a line.
