So the question is—did LL read Jack Vance?
I mean, probably. Seems like something they were all doing back in the day.
The "name" spells in the PH are mostly invented (researched and created) by PC wizards in the game. Leomund was Len Lakofka's character. (I can only remember this because LL for years wrote a column in Dragon called Leomund's Tiny Hut.)

Oh well.
I assume this is the kind of thing you do cunningly and intentionally: the Dadaist quote above would not fit in bsky, so I cut out the middle, which is quite literally "who kicked the old aunt in her rubber bum"
For I am the old aunt in this situation and thus the answer, the kicker, is you.
It honestly never even occurred to me. Although since I came to your bsky and trumpeted it to your followers, it probably should have. I apologize. I'm not very good at being a human.

05.06.2025 13:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0But I think what you’ve said here is important and interesting, and I think I agree with much of it. I started writing a response, but because I am long-winded it rapidly outgrew bsky's character limits, and I am congenitally confused by threads…so maybe elsewhere, some time…
05.06.2025 13:34 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Never an ill wind etc., and people have been telling me their own theories on the Pinkwater canon. I've learned a lot! Ian Stoba (my collaborator on the Hoboken Emergencylopedia) pointed out the significance on 1003 in Muffin Fiend, and I went out and got a DVD of Don Giovanni from my local library.
