I think Jonas was trying to maximise his chances of winning since every time he's tried from afar(ish) he's been outsprinted by Pog. Pogi was cooked in the end, and Jonas could have won, but it is really difficult to read Pog's body language. It was clear Pogi wanted the stage and couldn't get away
