Every witness has exclusively focused their testimony on irrelevant and inaccurate statements to cast doubt on the safety and effectiveness of medication abortion. Study after study and Ohio's own Dept. of Health data has shown Mifepristone to be a highly safe and highly effective medication.

Witness from anti-abortion organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America begins her testimony by making false statements about abortion care.

Next witness is Sue Liebel, here to libel abortion providers.

Sen. Liston: The Ohio Constitution says we cannot discriminate against access to abortion. This bill only focuses on abortion care. I see this as a form of discrimination against this form of healthcare.

Up next is Ohio Right to Life, who is also spreading inaccurate and inflammatory statements about abortion medication.

"Politics on both sides don't allow us to have a more nuanced conversation." — organization that lies to pregnant people and receives taxpayer funding to do so thanks to multiple Republican-written state budget bills.

"I'm not a medical professional." — witness who is giving dubious statements about medical conditions in hope of influencing health care policy.

Sen. Roegner asks a question that simply an anti-abortion statement.

"This is a complicated debate." — person supporting a bill that's only designed to complicate a very simple form of healthcare.

The CPC witness returns to claims about online orders for abortion medication. The only point of this bill is to mandate statements from doctors in doctors' offices. It's crystal clear that the only purpose of this bill is to be a vehicle to attack a safe and effective medical option.

Sen. Catherine Ingram says "This bill is a slap in the face to Ohio voters" who supported abortion rights two years ago.

The crisis pregnancy center witness says complication rates for medication abortion are dramatically high. Sen. Liston responds "The entire medical community disagrees" with that claim.

To be clear, making wildly inflammatory and inaccurate statements is literally why crisis pregnancy centers exist in the first place. They distract and mislead pregnant people in hope of delaying or blocking their accessing of abortion care.

Sen. Beth Liston (a physician) asks the witness about how her testimony was relevant. The witness makes dubious claims about people who have obtained medication abortion online. The bill would mandate required statements in a doctor's office. We're also not sure how that's relevant.

Crisis pregnancy centers, also known anti-abortion centers, utilize misleading advertising and “free” services to lure in patients seeking reproductive care. Often lacking the tools needed to provide adequate care, they use stigma to dissuade patients from getting they care they want and need.

Testimony starts on SB 309 with a statement from an anti-abortion crisis pregnancy center, an organization that solely exists for the purpose of lying to people seeking answers about pregnancy options with an intent to obstruct them from obtaining abortion care.

When adoption advocates oppose a tax credit to help adopting families, then you know the bill sponsor's idea is complete garbage.

An agency dedicated to helping people put pregnancies up for adoption, JustChoice opposes House Bill 87: "Most alarming is the amendment allowing a prospective adoptive family to claim a fetus as a dependent before birth, while explicitly barring the pregnant person from doing so."

Next witness is Molly from JustChoice: "House Bill 87 is a legally risky and ethically dangerous bill that advances a coordinated strategy to establish fetal and embryonic legal rights through non-abortion statutes, while exposing pregnant people to coercion, surveillance, and loss of autonomy."
