Rep. Josh Williams opposes the amendment that would change the range of grades the bill applies to... because of his own transphobia.

This man continues to create new and creative ways to be the most disgusting member of the Ohio legislature.

Rep. @berylbrownpic.bsky.social moves to amend the bill to address IVF, which the video does not acknowledge as a pathway to parenthood. She notes that the 2023 Issue 1 amendment specifically supports IVF.

"It's not medically accurate." - Rep. @robinsonforoh.bsky.social is dismantling the terrible ideas included in House Bill 485. He's sharing his experience as a parent with a child taking sex education classes in school and how the bill neglects educational need.

Why does Ohio have no health education standards? It's because the Republican majority in the state legislature doesn't want to accept the fact that education experts and parents across the state want their students to receive comprehensive sex education.

This bill ain't it.

Well, she's technically correct in that OHIO IS THE ONLY STATE WITH NO HEALTH EDUCATION STANDARDS. This video does not in any way address that massive missing need.

Public schools are not a place to make religious assertions out to be fact, nor a battleground for the political ends the adults who are supposed to protect our children’s education decide to take up.

Live Action has been reviewed and confirmed by third parties to promote pseudoscience and whose “sole mission is to discredit Planned Parenthood and to advocate for pro-life policies.”

The video recommended by the Baby Olivia Act is also full of medical inaccuracies and misleading talking points. This use of inaccurate and misleading content is part of a greater trend—and arguably the organizational mission—of Live Action, creator of the Baby Olivia video.

Sponsors and proponents of HB 485 claim that the bill is about “instruction in human growth and development.” In fact, it mandates the insertion of a single political agenda and worldview into our public-school curriculum, a worldview many Americans do not subscribe to.

The Ohio House is now debating House Bill 485, to force teachers to show students in grades 5-12 an anti-abortion propaganda video.

Rep. @desireetims.bsky.social reminds the House that Ohio voters clearly spoke in support of reproductive freedom in 2023, and that House Bill 324 is unconstitutional as it violates the Ohio Reproductive Freedom Amendment.

Our state has a plethora of actionable issues, an ongoing homelessness & housing crisis, healthcare deserts, unacceptable maternal & infant mortality rates, and more, that this General Assembly should be working to fix. Leave the unconstitutional abortion restrictions in the past where they belong.

House Bill 324 sponsors say it's about patient protection, but it's really about using misinformation. Limiting access to mifepristone via telemedicine will especially harm people of color, low income individuals and those living in rural areas without easy access to healthcare.

Mifepristone has been used by tens of thousands of individuals since the FDA approval in 2000. It is a safe and effective form of medication abortion. But anti-abortion extremists are using junk science to limit access to medication abortion services and mental healthcare.

The Ohio House is now hearing House Bill 324, which adds restrictions against the safest and most common medication used for abortion care. Rep. @reprachelbaker.bsky.social spoke against the bill in committee and opposes it on the House floor.

The Ohio House passes Senate Bill 293, which now attacks voters' rights.

Rep. @ashleyforohio.bsky.social explains one of the common ways voters can have their ballots challenged despite no wrongdoing, such as a name change upon getting married as happened to her. She moves to amend to give voters increased information.
