This took me down a mental rabbit hole of “Danzig and Hugh Jackman both sing. Now I need a Les Miserables starring Danzig.”

I just learned that Danzig is 5’3”. This is blowing my mind.

I’m not exactly living proof of this, but I have spent the past three months listening almost exclusively to the classic Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe albums.

I feel like Warehouse doesn’t get enough attention in the Dü discography (the “Dü-cography”?). I spent some time recently revisiting it, and man it is just loaded with some of their best writing. And I say that as a Zen Arcade guy.

Side note: The chapter in Greil Marcus’ Mystery Train is something I think about fairly often. That book is very special to me, but the chapter discussing Sly has always stayed with me.

One of the greatest and most fascinating figures in 20th century music, a total visionary with a unique vision. Even when that vision cratered by the end of the 60s, his body of work is a singular one. A true great. One of my all-time favorites.
