1) Creating a joke that Barack Obama paraphrased onstage at a campaign event the very next day, and then watching as that joke reversed the “Palin Bounce” that had moved John McCain ahead of him in the polls. Because Sarah Palin really WAS the lipstick on John McCain’s pig.

2) Being (possibly) the only person with four rival candidates ever unanimously elected to be a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention, as each of my fellow candidates voted for me. Five years later, this still blows my mind and gives me warm fuzzies.

The three things in my political life that I am most proud of (so far):

3) Identifying to the FBI a January 6 rioter whose photo I saw on the FBI website. Even though this barely qualifies as politics and now threatens my safety.

As you’ve doubtlessly discovered by now, that’s not exactly what that book is.

He didn’t talk much about him, but did prize the fishing cap Thompson gave him at the end of the semester. He wore it out over the years. I met him a couple times myself, most notably after coating my face with creosote when we picked him up at the airport. I was screaming, it burned so badly! 😆

My dad, who served as faculty liaison to Thompson when he did a lecture series at Syracuse in the early 70s and became a friend of his, gave me this book when I was 13, just so I’d understand who the guy was.

That’s hilarious. As I read “weird aubergine visage” I was already guessing RFK Jr. 😆

About once a week, I grill up a bunch of chicken gizzards as a special treat for the 8 to 10 feral cats I feed. In the cold months, this typically happens on the warmest day of the week.

Today was their lucky day.

I’ve got a name for that party, too. The American People’s Party. #thereisanappforthat

itself to be defined by others. For mathematical reasons, I believe that party must be “radical centrist”, positioned so as to draw support from both sides of the duopoly. It must refuse to be drawn into the culture wars, committing only to steadfastly support human and civil rights.

As a Bernie 2020 delegate to the Democratic National Convention, the thought of a new party has been all-consuming for the last 19 days. But that new party cannot be a “socialist” or “demsoc” party and hope to succeed. We need a new party that focuses on working class economics without allowing

Hence Bernie Sanders.

Let me clarify. The GOP, although more than half full of toxic people, allow those people to choose their candidate with minimal interference. Hence Trump. The Democratic Party, though more than half full of beautiful, generous souls, will NEVER let them choose their candidate without interference.

these things here is that you and I seem to agree on a great number of things, politically. Right now, I believe the American people are in the best position in our lifetimes to break the duopoly’s chokehold. And I think that you are well positioned to help create the mythos for a new party’s rise.
