Food plays an integral part in my novel, #howtobuildachampion, with an emphasis on the social aspects of sharing a communal meal among #community members, where 'new faces in the crowd' are always welcomed, at Champions osteria. (It's the neighbourhood "hub" for pick-me-ups and fresh perspectives.)

I agree with you: community is something that's built. Sure, it takes one person, like the "leader" in that book club, to start something, but for people to invest their time they have to get an ROI to feel they're valued, so it's "their" book club as much as a "leader's" or they look elsewhere. 1/2

I agree with Gina. For me, libraries as multi-purpose spaces is a way forward. What's needed is to communicate such a re-positioning in service-offering to local residents, so communities see their #libraries as a vital community resource, and so increase visitor numbers. #readers #writers #books
