5/ DO NOT HOLD BACK. Even if what you create never gets published, the act of creating it frees your mind from the shackles of reality. When censorship rises and every word is policed, the last refuge you have is in your thoughts. The moment you give that up, the oppressors win.

4/ If you're an artist, make the most radical art you ever made. If you're a writer, write the most unhinged stories you can think up. If you're a musician, compose your fight song however your heart sings it.

3/ Hoard those experiences of the world as it should be: free and unfettered, and filled with camaraderie, love and passion, so that you never forget what you deserve and what is being taken away from you.

2/ Even in the darkest of times, your mind and your thoughts are the most ungovernable agents of anarchy there is. Look for the scandalous, the rebellious, and shocking, whether it's books, movies, or art.

1/ If there is one piece of advice I would give to everyone these days it's this: Don't give up your freedom of thought. Don't give up your dreams, your opinions, your imagination, and your creativity.

#bookrec This is a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed reading it, but it's a book you don't revisit after it's done. Very much a literary work, so the plot will be slower, but well worth reading. Reminded me of Sophie's World. Well written, beautiful narrative, makes you think and feel bad for the characters. 💙📚

11/ We will get through this. It will be painful, and it might break a lot of the foundations on which our society is built (*cough* capitalism *cough*) but in the end we will win, and we will rebuild ourselves that much better. But we have to do it TOGETHER.

10/ Humanity has risen and then crashed back into the muck many times before. We have the knowledge of those triumphs and failures. Our predecessors handed us the guidebook on how to get through it, and we now have the tools, technologies, and wisdom to do it so much faster than they ever could.

9/ But people all around the world are banding together to fight back against systems of hatred and oppression. We’re wading through the breaking point now, and everything looks like it’s falling apart—because it is. What I want you to remember is that we’ve been through cycles like this before.

8/ All of this to say, life is complicated as hell. But it is in our best interest to want better not just for ourselves, but for everyone else. Unfortunately, we live in world where those in power profit from the rest of us fighting to hurt each other as much as we can.

7/ It's like the movie, What Dreams May Come. Depending on the type of life you lived, your afterlife can be a beautiful paradise, or a dark, torturous hell. Cuz it's not enough to know/say the words. You have to actually believe in them and live them.

6/ If you believe everything ends with death but your life caused negative ripples, you get an afterlife of nothing. As in, you will still exist, but in a place of nothing. No light, or darkness, or sound, or silence, or sleep. Your consciousness will float through the endless void forever.

5/ If you believe that living in love gets you into Heaven, but then you hate people who don’t live their lives the way you want them to live it. Baby, you’re not gonna get to see those pearly gates. You’ll be getting your skin burned off down below—as per the rules you chose (not) to follow.

4/ If you believe in reincarnation, and that good deeds in this life will lead to better circumstances in the next one, but then you do something that causes suffering. You reincarnate in a situation similar to those you harmed the most so you can feel what they felt.

3/ You choose the rules by which you want to live. If you follow them, you get the “good” version of your idea of whatever comes after. If you don’t, you get the bad version. People get to choose their own set of rules. But they don’t get to dictate them to others. That’s one of the rules.

2/ In my mind, we are the creators of our own afterlife, which actually aligns with pretty much every religion out there. What you believe when you’re alive is what you will get when you die. Except it may not be in the way you think it is. Following the Wishmaster theory, I see it like this:

1/ If there’s one thing I learned from The Wishmaster, it’s that we create our own reality. But we are in no way equipped to handle what we create, thereby leaving our own construct open to corruption. In short, be careful what you wish for. Let’s apply this to, say, the afterlife. A thread #wis101
