I'm watching 'Smiley's People' (1982) and I'm struck by the confused vagueness of its representation of the Baltic states. I haven't read the book, which might be better, but the TV series seems to muddle up White Russians with Estonians, and is vague on the reasons Estonians might oppose the USSR
