It’s all the same game of typecasting people. Just like racism. Just like “we” don’t feel superior. You mean “you” don’t feel superior and you think your neighbors don’t either. But some certainly do. So hop off the high horse. We all have to live with neighbors that don’t represent us.

They don’t “feel” appreciated as much when they just empty the jar at the end of their shift. Seeing people put that money in makes a connection to how the customer feels about the service. IMHO

Watching a video the speaker said he waits until the person at the counter is looking away to drop $5 in the tip jar. This to train ourselves to give when there’s no reward. But I think this removes yourself from a positive shared acknowledgment that you appreciate that person...

Yeah, and you won’t have a clue as to what level of influence someone “else” might have on a project. The potential for sabotage or extract IP or just eavesdrop on developments in your org will go up. We’re putting a lot of trust in people who have made their life goal extracting money from others

They are moving to a model where you as a developer will no longer know what’s embedded in your code “for efficiency”. No more need for optimization because the lower layers will take care of it. Teaching students how not to be a developer is how I see it.

Just watched a vid on “Software in the Age of AI”. It’s interesting how the AI guys describe actual hand written code. They try to describe it as having a place but in the next breath talk about how neural net applications are scraping the old “1.0” code as they make strides….

Hoping people share this in a big way…

If there’s some way to get this out in front of people… it transcends a lot of people’s problems with the bill. I don’t hear anyone talking about it. It’s taking away court’s ability to protect the poor from the gov. That’s for anything the gov tries to do whether immigration or anything really.

This says 2 weeks ago. I’m guessing he’s given more detail on his replacement. I think this is something that needs to be stripped in its entirety from a megalithic bill and for those that want it they can explain to their constituents why. IMHO

According to a site called 5calls.org they removed the house language and replaced it with language that still limits the court’s power. You must be able to afford a bond to get the court to issue a restraining order. So no money == no justice is what they are doing. IMHO

What I’m seeing now is they replaced the language to limit the court’s ability to issue a restraining order unless the plaintiffs pay a bond before they can secure judicial orders. It sounds like they reworded it with the same spirit. If you’re poor, your loved one is on a plane to nowhere. True?

I heard there was a line in there that prevents the courts from enforcing orders by restricting their ability to act on contempt charges. Any word on whether that’s also been removed. That’s one that I understand Trump wants for disappearing people the court is ordering a stay.

So it’s hard to make an educated guess as to what it will do. But the accumulation of wealth at the top for few while the majority suffers a struggle to survive is not new and people’s reaction to this state is easy to foresee. So I guess we’ll see how destitute fighters stand against drones

People are angry and rightly so. There is no plan for a future for people who invested a large portion of their lives and took on debt in duty to a system that promised to provide for them. They are left with slim hope of being one of few that will end up on top. And they just got burnt…

I think it’s just a matter of time before they spend time examining the training material for better evidence to discern rumor or guess work from fact and weighting the facts better. They have the same tools we have to test an answer. My guess here is that we don’t get to see the high end…

I don’t doubt this is what they are working on. Scientists are working hard to improve them. I find it hard to believe we would know this and they don’t. So I think over time we’ll see this gap close. It’s all bad news. Need to compartmentalize and be in nature for a breath. 😒

This is a weighty topic. This technology is the gateway to a lot of suffering for sure. I tend to want to scale things out. This has me stumped as I don’t have faith in people to do the right thing. We are most definitely the problem by our design. This is just a powerful doomsday machine

It’s easy to jump into when we and our children and (maybe) grand children will suffer from this science. I can’t blame them. But as you say, it’s only going to improve as long as dedicated scientists continue to develop better methods.

The models will improve as hallucinations are detected and mistakes from training materials are culled. Our focus should be on demonstrating the harm it’s doing and motivating people to push back. Remind people with power when it’s bad enough they won’t like their lives (if they get to keep them.)
