I guess it's a decent pivot Cameron does a benevolent alien movie (or extra-terrestrial at least) after all the mean horror of Aliens. Albeit I think Contact does that sort of stuff way better

this movie does definitely get a little syrupy in a way I can understand someone preferring the beautiful cold hard circularity of the first movie

that being said I live for the syrupy shit, Cameron turning John into Elliott at the end of ET at the end there

do love Sarah finding herself going Terminator mode against Dyson such a great role reversal (Morton is fantastic in this)

every time someone in that FX show steps into a lab with one of those Cronenburg creatures without a suit on

similarly did not know until my last T1 watch that this guy was a callback. he really failed upwards from tired police station psychologist

I do buy the take that Sarah realises Kyle is John's father even before she sleeps with him (or just as)

as part of the generation mostly familiar with T2 it shocked me just how shy & naive Sarah is in this. makes me even more impressed with the sequel pulling off the pivot

I'm not surprised Cameron wanted to do an Alien follow-up after Terminator both are basically slasher movies
