Fair enough! But tbh Chelsea Wolfe also wanders into dream pop or at least adjacent areas at times. Nothing wrong with that, I just never saw any relation to black metal :)

Casually reminding myself of the time when I thought I was gonna be a metal logo designer. At least some of those were actually used (and one still is as far as I know).

This is really solid! Raw, but extremely melodic.

Black metal root? Wasn't Emma always more like folk-ish dream pop with splashes of other genres? She didn't even contribute to a clear-cut black metal project, mostly sludge ones.

Great sound, but them being "unproblematic" might not be true even if just by association with Necropole.

I didn't want to dismiss all the stuff #Alda did after "Tahoma", but I still consider this album their magnum opus. This track, in particular, is the quintessence of atmoblack.

Falls of Rauros might be an obvious choice, next to Panopticon, but it's also one that cannot be skipped.

One of the most often repeated #screamo and #post-hardcore tracks on my playlist lately. The album largely flew under most radars in 2022, but Overo completely deserves your attention. I'm getting some strong, early 2000 #alternative-metal vibes from their sound.

Sound more like a personal attack than a question, which might be a "me problem" which might, in turn, suggest that I should be reading a bit more.

I can't imagine liking metal and taking all lyrics seriously. A ton of them are just edgelord cringe. I've learned to not care.

Underappreciated albums vol. [Whatever]

In a genre as stale as #blackmetal tends to be, #albums in the vein of "Kröflueldar" should top the charts. The damn thing starts like #surf-rock and then descends into psychedelia-infused black metal, well composed too.

If we're on the topic of missing Fall of Efrafa, few bands hit closer to home than Rană with their last year's monumental release.

"Richtfeuer" somehow manages to be both powerful and extremely emotional.

Also, the buildup within the composition of this track is just astounding. It starts strong, but just keeps introducing parts you'll be waiting for during your next listens. A strong album in general, but this is a banger.

Since I was never (or at least initially) a fan of Julie's work with Cult of Luna, "Ridiculous And Full Of Blood" has hit me like a truck. Never expected to love this.

The voices reach a perfect balance, Julie just keeps bouncing between fragility and absolute, powerful anger.
