Dogtooth was wild and disturbing and I couldn't look away.
01.12.2025 19:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for the push, will seek it out soon.
Bugonia is my favorite of the year too I think. Edged out One Battle After Another.
I was left speechless. I wish all films were this good.
27.11.2025 05:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whoa, Bugonia.
My updated Lanthimos ranking:
1. The Killing of a Sacred Deer
2. Bugonia
3. The Lobster
4. Poor Things
5. The Favorite
I really need to see Dogtooth.
After lamenting 2025 films a month or so ago, I have to say that I'm somewhat rejuvenated having watched Train Dreams and Bugonia.
I don't know how to introduce this one. After three titles about opium peddling, I figured the rest of SDHistCon would be breezy by comparison. I was wrong. The next day, I experienced one of the toughest board games I've ever played. Perhaps *the* toughest. spacebiff.com/2025/11/24/u...
24.11.2025 20:01 β π 125 π 27 π¬ 25 π 11I'm not speaking specifically to Vantage, but I think there's a troubling trend post COVID lockdowns to playtest via Tabletop Simulator and online implementations. This can result in obfuscating some pain points such as setup.
24.11.2025 14:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Setup is actually very simple. Maybe more so than 7th Continent which starts basically fresh, but you go through a short character generation process in Vantage and get a randomized starting position. It's not arduous at all.
24.11.2025 14:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've written a follow-up article to my original Vantage review, this time at my own site. I wanted to explore some more ideas pertaining to this game's unique narrative structure. The companion piece: playerelimination.com/2025/11/24/t...
24.11.2025 14:21 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good game!
21.11.2025 22:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think it was for carving my initials or a cool design into the board.
19.11.2025 20:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looks like Mayday launched their new Crokinole Kickstarter and is embroiled in a new shitty controversy. I have to give a PSA on my mistake of backing their 2022 board in which I deservedly received a package with a box cutter rattling around inside.
19.11.2025 19:56 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Hopefully you don't have to wait too long.
17.11.2025 20:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0$30 MSRP. Maybe expensive for a card game (although it has a lot of supplementary stuff like player boards, solo components, multiple decks), but cheap overall for a game nowadays.
17.11.2025 15:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ha, no worries. Just annoyed at myself for not catching that.
17.11.2025 15:11 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Had to quote a sentence with a typo, that stings. It's fixed now. Seriously though, great work on the game, Pete.
17.11.2025 15:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Origin Story took me by surprise. It combines trick-taking and tableau building in a chaotic and empowering manner. Check out my review: playerelimination.com/2025/11/17/i...
17.11.2025 14:02 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1It's very interesting. Definitely excited about future plays.

12.11.2025 02:58 β π 15 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0It's certainly self-important. But I'd much rather watch something smug that takes a big swing with multiple layers to dig into, than something less thoughtful or progressive.
09.11.2025 21:37 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Excellent film IMO.

THE EXPANSION IS COMING
HAPPY FUCKING N7 DAYYYYYYYY
Thanks, Mark! The massive campaign game won't die, as these types of games still do exceptionally well on crowdfunding.
07.11.2025 16:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ha!
07.11.2025 15:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Totally fair. Not sure there is a beloved, distinctly American band that metalheads would agree upon. Wouldn't say Megadeth, Pantera, or Slayer are iconic enough or deserve to be separated in a unique way from the others, certainly not with the same distinction as the other countries you list.

07.11.2025 15:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've been quiet on the writing front lately. This is because I've been working on the behemoth that is Kingdoms Forlorn, a boss battler campaign game with Dark Souls vibes and the followup to the exceptional Aeon Trespass: Odyssey.
