#OTD 1966 • Aberfan Disaster 🥀

On Friday the 21st of October 1966, a wave of coal waste slid down the Aberfan Valley, taking the lives of 116 children and 28 adults with it.

The best example is probably "Yr Wyddfa" (Cymraeg name for Snowdon), which is a reference to the legend of Arthur killing a giant up there.

Whereas "Snowdon" (Saxon) means "Snowy Hill"...

It sounds mad to acknowledge this but we’re seeing the most successful party in the democratic world crumble.
Welsh Labour have won every domestic election for 103 years and are now slumping to a distant 3rd in FPTP and close to the threshold of not winning *any* Caerphilly-esque seats in #Senedd26

The 4% currently predicted for Lib Dems and Greens could defeat Reform by voting Plaid Cymru. There's a real opportunity for supporters of those parties to defeat Reform and strengthen their own parties chances at the Senedd elections in May 26.

If you're a Labour, Green or Lib Dem voter in Caerffili it's morally incumbent on you to vote Plaid. That's the long and the short of it. We're out of excuses or arguments now, either we stand up to fascism or we give in.

A vote for anything other than Plaid Cymru is a vote for Russi I mean Reform.

The Caerffili by-election poll is deeply worrying, despite being heavily caveated by a tiny polling sample (it really isn’t helpful to bother unless it’s a standard sized poll).

42% Reform. A party that refuses to publish devolved policy and has refused to elect/appoint a leader in Wales.

Madness.

I hope supporters of the Greens, Lib Dems, Labour and even moderate Tories vote tactictally in Caerffili next week. Allowing Llŷr Powell and Reform into the Senedd would be a disaster for Caerffili and Wales.

If you're watching the Reform Party controlled Councils in England with the endless mishaps, resignations, fallouts, scandals, mismanagement and sheer idiocy, but still thinking of putting these clowns in charge of Caerphilly , representing you in the Senedd, you are literally insane.
