Thanks for posting Alex. Tpr. James Bolt was one of the murdered POWs and was a member of Lt. Windsor’s tank crew (Sherbrooke Fusiliers). He enlisted with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters in April 1941 at Owen Sound. He stayed with the Foresters until they were disbanded in August 1943 in the UK.

Thanks Mike, watched it on Zoom. A superb talk by Tim that explored the North-South relationship between Canada and the US during the SWW. I’m about half way through the Good Allies and highly recommend it. Tim has tapped into a history that needs to be shared in our times.

I spent a career teaching secondary school history and geography. Upon retirement, I pursued a master’s degree in history through the Tri-university program focused on military history. Examples of my work can be accessed on my LinkedIn account. I am not a prolific poster.

The 248th was disbanded when it arrived overseas and my grandfather was transferred to the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was wounded in December 1917 and ultimately invalided back to Canada. He proved to be a great influence on me in my early years.
